GM Releases Software Update For 2024 Chevy Blazer EV

General Motors has released a new software update for the 2024 Chevy Blazer EV that will reprogram multiple vehicle modules with intention of improving the overall customer experience. The update is also designed to optimize future over-the-air updates. What’s more, certain units of the Chevy Blazer EV affected by a recent stop-sale order will be released from the order following the implementation of this latest software update.

The new software update was released under a pair of dealer bulletins, including Customer Satisfaction Program N242436240 and Customer Satisfaction Program N242436241. According to GM, certain units of the 2024 Chevy Blazer EV may require a software update to improve the customer experience and optimize future over-the-air software updates. The software update will be performed by the dealer.

This update affects units placed under a stop-sale order issued in December of 2023, per N232434590. Following the stop-sale order, Chevy Vice President Scott Bell stated that “a limited number of customers have experienced software-related quality issues with their Blazer EV,” adding that “custom satisfaction is our priority and as such, we will take a brief pause on new deliveries.” Sales resumed alongside the announcement of a significant price drop.

As covered previously, the stop-sale order issue was related to vehicle software, and was not related to the underlying GM Ultium battery system or GM Ultium Drive motor system, nor was it related to the Google built-in operating system.

As a reminder, the Chevy Blazer EV is based on battery-electric-dedicated GM BEV3 platform, the same platform that underpins the Chevy Equinox EV and Cadillac Lyriq, among other all-electric GM products. Production takes place at the GM Ramos Arizpe plant in Mexico, initially kicking off in June of the 2023 calendar year. Per previous GM Authority coverage, the 2024 Chevy Blazer EV qualifies for the full $7,500 U.S. EV tax credit following a change in GM suppliers.

    1. well they did have to drop the price some 5400 dollars and now lose even more money per unit…ford loses some 33k per lightning so ridiculous

      1. They dropped the price because it was pointed out in many forums such as this that the RS (I would say the one most people would want to buy) was essentially priced the same as the Liriq. So obviously stimulating sales after bad press is part of it, but I think a more relevant point is that it was priced incorrectly to begin with. I would even bet neither division knew what the other was doing and nobody at the corporate level was paying attention.

With the bad press, and a backlog of stock, they need to move metal.

  3. I love the looks of my 2024 EV Blazer! I hope this new software update takes care of the issues I am having with the SUV! Purchased in December, 1489 miles on it and I only put about 400 miles of that total mileage. My SUV has been in the dealers more than I have had it! Fingers crossed!

    1. They delivered a brand new, right out of the factory model with over 1,000 miles on it?

Did they drive it from Mexico?

  4. 75% of the Blazers on the ground will still be in stock, this time next year. Just hide and watch. It may sell on the West Coast but it’s highly undesirable anywhere else. Great looking vehicle! It’s a shame the design was wasted on an EV.

  5. This has been a nightmare. It has taken FOREVER to get these to market. The Blazer EV also has serious quality issues. The amount of bad press and skepticism about the truck is going to be hard to overcome now. There are also just too many EV options in this size class available now. And most have proven to be more reliable. Most interested customers have moved on long ago.

  6. I went in to drive one and despite the dealer website saying multiple are in stock (with a handful in transit) the sales people are clueless about where the vehicles are or when they will get any — and this is a pretty large dealer in the Seattle area where you would expect some priority for moving EV’s.

  7. I don’t believe I have seen a single advertisement for the Blazer EV, How can they expect the public to have interest in them, when most people don’t even know about them. Clueless salesmen at dealerships like Bob mentioned doesn’t help.
