GM Plug And Charge Activated On FLO Charging Network In Canada

FLO – a North American-based electric vehicle charging provider – has announced that GM EVs in Canada now have simplified access to its charging infrastructure.

Eliminating the need to open a mobile app or use a charging card, all-electric General Motors products can simply begin a fast-charging session by plugging in their vehicle at one of FLO’s fast charging stations across Canada via The General’s Plug and Charge feature, which can now be enabled by FLO’s autocharge software.

“FLO’s innovative software technology that supports GM’s Plug and Charge is just the latest step in FLO’s mission to provide the best charging experience for EV drivers across North America,” FLO CPO Nathan Yang claimed in a prepared statement. “FLO’s vertical integration and expertise with remotely updating software to add new features to the chargers on our network allows us to deliver a plug and charge experience that moves the fast-charging experience forward.”

Once the GM EV has been enabled and plugged into a FLO DC fast charger, the latter’s software automatically confirms the identification of the vehicle, authorizes the charging session, and activates billing without any additional action needed. In order to access this feature, drivers will need to link their FLO account with their myChevrolet, myCadillac, or myGMC app, and enable Plug and Charge.

“GM’s Plug and Charge enabled by FLO creates a simplified, seamless and consistent charging experience for GM EV drivers,” GM Canada EV Ecosystems Director Mathew Palmer remarked. “FLO continues to be a leader in EV charging, and our collaborations help to drive consumer EV adoption by improving functionality and expanding charging infrastructure.”

In other FLO-related developments, the electric vehicle charging company announced that it will integrate North American Charging Standard (NACS) connectors into its charging networks. This comes as a result of GM aiming to switch to the NACS connector by 2025, thus meaning that FLO will have to adapt to these upcoming EVs.
