GM full-size pickup truck sales increased by five percent to 224,168 units in the United States during the fourth quarter of 2023. Chevy Silverado sales were nearly flat at just one percent to 143,390 units, while GMC Sierra sales grew 10 percent to 79,510 units. Both ICE-based trucks include light-duty and heavy-duty lineups. As has historically been the case, GM still sells about twice as many Silverados as Sierras.

Continuing solid sales performance of GM’s full-size pickup truck nameplates that continues to grow thanks to updated lineups, new variants, and the addition of new EV models, the ICE-powered Silverado and Sierra, along with the all-electric Silverado EV and Hummer EV Pickup, enabled The General to vastly outsell the Ford F-Series by nearly 47K units. Despite the Blue Oval’s best efforts, GM reigns supreme as the best-selling manufacturer of full-size pickups in America. Additionally, GM handily outsold the Ram Pickup, two-to-one.

Looking Ahead
GM full-size truck sales, including those of the Chevy Silverado and Silverado EV along with the GMC Sierra and Hummer EV Pickup, continue to see extremely strong demand, outpacing cross-town rivals more than ever to close out the year. More Silverado EV variants will launch this year as the all-electric GMC Sierra EV arrives as well, registering its first sales later on. That will likely grow The General’s segment share even higher, which has also been boosted by updated lineups and new variants of its traditional ICE-based offerings.
On the competitive front, the refreshed 2024 Ford F-150 was revealed this past September, while the refreshed 2025 Ram 1500 was unveiled in November, joined by the first-ever 2025 Ram 1500 Ramcharger EREV, for which GM has no Chevy Silverado or GMC Sierra rival.
Meanwhile, the Nissan Titan is set to retire after the 2024 model year. This is not surprising since the truck continues to earn just a one percent segment share in a very competitive segment that ironically provides GM and Ford with its biggest money-makers.
About Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Additionally, the 2024 Silverado ZR2 is available with new beadlock-capable wheels along with new black and red beadlock wheel decorative rings.
Meanwhile, the 2024 Silverado High Country will be available with the Midnight Edition Package, and all trims of the 2024 Silverado 1500 offer a new drop-in bedliner and a new bed Utility Wall Package.

The 2024 Chevy Silverado HD ZR2 shined in MotorTrend’s off-road pickup comparison test as the “one beefy heavy-duty off-road truck standing alone at the top of the mountain.”
In January, GM unveiled the 2025 Chevy Silverado HD, highlighting several updates and changes, the most notable of which is the highly anticipated new 2025 Chevy Silverado HD Trail Boss package.
About Chevrolet Silverado EV
The first-ever 2024 Chevy Silverado EV officially debuted at CES 2022, arriving in the well-equipped RST First Edition and fleet-focused WT trim levels.
The all-electric Silverado was engineered from the ground up to be exclusively an electric vehicle.
The RST trim level arrives with a long feature list, debuting as the RST First Edition. A Trail Boss trim will launch as a 2025 model. Other trims, such as a new Custom trim level that GM Authority was first to report about, as well as a High Country trim, are expected to join the lineup in the near future.
The Chevy Silverado EV was among the NACTOY 2024 Truck of the Year finalists, competing in the 30th annual North American Car, Truck, and Utility Vehicle of the Year Awards.

That 6.2 liter gets a throatier exhaust note thanks to a new Active Exhaust system. Additionally, the 2024 Sierra AT4X is available with new beadlock-capable wheels along with new black and red beadlock wheel decorative rings.

In October 2022, GM unveiled the refreshed 2024 GMC Sierra HD, debuting fresh exterior styling, a new interior, a revised trim level lineup, new tech like standard wireless CarPlay and Android Auto, safety features like Adaptive Cruise Control, and powertrain updates. The refresh is highlighted by the arrival of the premium 2024 GMC Sierra HD Denali Ultimate, the pinnacle of heavy-duty trucks, which offers massaging seats for the first time on the Sierra HD. Consequently, a new Denali Reserve Package replaces the Denali Ultimate Package offered on the 2023 model. Also, the 2024 Sierra HD offers two new 22-inch wheel options.

The GMC Sierra HD won the Strategic Vision 2023 Total Quality Impact award in the heavy-duty pickup category. The GMC Sierra 3500 HD also won the J.D. Power 2024 U.S. ALG Residual Value Award, marking it as one of 28 nameplates projected to keep the highest percentage of their original value three years after purchase. It’s also the top model for the highest three-year residual value in the Large Heavy Duty Pickup segment.
This month, the GMC Sierra HD won the S&P Global Mobility 2023 Automotive Loyalty Award in the heavy-duty pickup segment.
About GMC Hummer EV Pickup
Production of the 2024 GMC Hummer EV Pickup began this past June, with the nameplate introducing a handful of important changes and updates over the preceding 2023 model. That includes the launch of two entry-level trim levels – the 2X and 2. They will join the range-topping Edition 1 and 3X trims to round out the all-electric Hummer off-road pickup truck lineup for the 2024 model year.
Another important update for the 2024 Hummer EV Pickup is the introduction of the new Omega Edition. This limited-run variant includes a unique matte paint finish, unique wheels, and a few other unique accents.
Additionally, for 2024, the Pickup offers a new LPO-level or dealer-installed optional Lifestyle Adventure Package that provides camping capabilities for off-roaders and other outdoor enthusiasts. A step up from that is the new EarthCruiser, a variant of the Pickup designed to tackle overlanding adventures in zero-emission style.
About GMC Sierra EV
Over a year ago, GM also debuted the first-ever 2024 GMC Sierra EV Denali. The only variant built for the 2024 model year will be the Sierra EV Denali Edition 1. All other models, including the “regular” Denali, off-road AT4, and entry-level Elevation, will be offered for the 2025 model year.
Interestingly, the 2024 Acadia and Sierra EV are GMC’s first models to get GM’s new electronic shift lever.

Comments
A well thorough report on the end of year GM line up.
Here’s how stupid and ignorant people are right now. Back in 2018 I bought a fully loaded Sierra 1500 SLT with the 8 speed and 6.2L for $45,500 out the door. I just looked at a left over fully loaded 2023 Sierra 1500 SLT with the Duramax for $72k discounted to $66,700!! So in 5 years that same model truck with a fancier screen has increased $21k………STOP paying these prices people. Wake up!!! Stop the insanity..
The reality is that the dollar is not what it used to be. Inflation is at over 18% with an annual federal budget of $8T, most of it borrowed, you better get ready for the United States of Zimbabwe.
Businesses is interested in profits; they are not interested in antagonizing their customers.
We all best wake up to this reality and elect sane leaders.
You sure enjoy advertising to the world how hard you failed Economics 101, don’t you?
Every ford truck is an F- series so they can claim a gimmicky best selling truck for over 47 years tv commercial ? How misleading !
GM – You are going to price yourself right out of the market! $70,000 to $80,000+ is not something young people or older people can afford for a 1500 – 3500 series pickup. When you charge these kinds of prices and the consumer also has house payments, putting food on the table, college and children’s expenses to name a few, who can afford these crazy prices?
Retired people can’t when living on social security!
