The automaker’s defense and security vehicle development subsidiary reported that the GM Defense ISV completed a rigorous UAE Armed Forces validation testing process organized by the Middle East country’s General Maintenance Corps. The evaluation included on- and off-road testing in complex terrain where GM Defense’s military operations vehicle demonstrated its capabilities.

The UAE General Maintenance Corps summer tests, which take place over several consecutive days of validation under extreme heat of 132 degrees Fahrenheit/56 degrees Celsius, evaluate whether the proposed military vehicles can meet the technical and tactical needs of the UAE Armed Forces and other countries in the region. The two-phase process includes mobility tests in real conditions and the field maintenance test, both successfully completed by the GM Defense ISV.

“This was GM Defense’s first time sending a vehicle to UAE Summer Trials, and our successful completion is a testament to the strength of our ISV and to the expertise and dedication of our team,” said GM Defense president, Steve duMont. “Through completion of all phases, we’ve demonstrated that we can successfully leverage the advanced technologies of our parent company, General Motors, to deliver a highly capable off-road vehicle that can meet the needs of defense and government customers in the UAE and throughout the region,” he added.

During the UAE Armed Forces’ rigorous summer testing, the GM Defense ISV traveled some 2,000 kilometers or 1,243 miles under extreme temperatures across challenging roads, sand dunes, soft sand tracks and rock walls with maximum payload capacities. Additionally, the ISV completed two days of field maintenance and recovery evaluation testing that demonstrated the ease of its repairs.

“Our completion of Summer Trials is a tremendous accomplishment for the ISV program and will give defense and government customers in the region great confidence in the capabilities GM Defense can deliver to meet mission requirements,” said Vice President of International Business Development, Bradley Watters. “Completing all phases of the mobility and maintenance trial will help open the doors to new growth in the Emirates,” he finished.

    1. It’s designed to get infantry into and away from a scenario — fast. Also scouting and strategic quick deployment over varied terrain.

Being in the direct line of fire is not the intention, as there are other, better equipped vehicles for that (albeit, much slower).

      1. Would still like a 60cal. mounted for the “away from scenario”.

    2. Ever heard of the hellcat tank? It was a convertible to save weight, and its primary means of defense was the fact it goes 60mph off road.

It saw limited action because it was a tank hunter. It sat along the sidelines waiting for the Germans to start blitzkrieg warfare. When they did with opperation Luttich, the hellcats ran into action. One such action saw 9 hellcats engage an SS armor battalion. The mauled 25 panzers including 3 tigers as well as over 500 infantry while loosing 1 hellcat.

      Speed does kill 😈

  6. Awesome vehicle! I’m sure they have provisions in the back for mounting some serious firepower.
