GM Canada Appoints Shane Peever As New VP Of Sales, Service And Marketing

Bringing long-term experience with the Canadian automotive market to the role, Shane Peever will take up the post of Vice President of Sales, Service, and Marketing for GM Canada on April 1st, 2024, per several posts on LinkedIn.

Peever has been the sales director for GM Energy since late 2022, before which he was the Managing Director of Cadillac Canada for 3.5 years. In all, Peever has spent almost 20 years at GM in a succession of roles, most of them in Canada.

Notably, Peever managed to rack up record sales for Cadillac Canada in the period from 2020 through 2022 despite the massive economic and supply chain disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. GM Canada president Kristian Aquilina says this was because Peever’s “leadership at Cadillac Canada grew the brand’s reputation in the Canadian market.”

Aquilina further asserts that during his tenure at GM Energy, Peever “successfully built the brand’s sales team, dealer programs, and direct and e-commerce sales channels from strategy through execution.” Peever joined GM Energy one month after the company division was launched in 2022.

Among the services the subsidiary will develop and oversee are vehicle-to-home and vehicle-to-grid charging, power storage units, solar energy products, hydrogen fuel cells, microgrid systems, and the software and cloud management tools needed to operate these technologies and services efficiently.

Peever was head of GM Energy when launched Ultium Home charging systems in summer 2023. Among the other functions of these systems is providing backup power during a blackout, as well as enabling vehicle-to-home power usage. The executive remarked that he enjoyed “building the sales experience for our customers” during his time at the subsidiary.

Aquilina says he looks forward to drawing on Peever’s “expertise spanning 20 years in building customer relationships, strengthening brand reputation, and bolstering engagement with our Canadian dealers.”

Meanwhile, Shane Peever himself says, regarding his new role at The General’s Canadian branch, “the sky’s the limit!”
