General Motors is expanding the GMC Sierra nameplate with a new all-electric variant dubbed the GMC Sierra EV, and the first model out the gates is the range-topping 2024 GMC Sierra EV Denali Edition 1. First breaking cover in 2022, interested customers were encouraged to place a reservation for the pickup via GMC’s website immediately following the debut. Now, dealers are currently taking orders for the 2024 GMC Sierra EV Denali Edition 1.
A GMC spokesperson provided GM Authority with the following statement:
“Dealers are currently reaching out to 2024 Sierra EV Denali Edition 1 reservation holders. More details on ordering will be shared closer to start of production.”
As GM Authority covered back in December, the 2024 GMC Sierra EV Denali is scheduled to launch this Summer. Although the all-electric pickup was initially scheduled for release early this year, the launch was subsequently pushed back by several months as The General worked to optimize its software strategy for various all-electric models.
Back in 2022, General Motors announced that roughly 20,000 customers had added their name to the waitlist for the new Sierra EV. Reservations for the Sierra EV Denali Edition 1 were completely filled within 15 minutes of the truck’s debut that preceding October. Each reservation required a $100 refundable reservation amount, with GM stipulating that reservations did not guarantee delivery within a certain time period, and that dealers set the final vehicle price. Vehicle pricing is estimated to start at $107,000 for the Edition 1, while lower trim levels are expected to start around $50,000.
As for the specs, the range-topping 2024 GMC Sierra EV Denali Edition 1 is rated at 754 horsepower and 785 pound-feet of torque, enough to slingshot it to 60 mph in 4.5 seconds. Range-per-charge is estimated at 400 miles, while the GM BT1 platform provides the underpinnings. Production is expected to initially take place at the GM Factory Zero plant.

Expect 10, max, to be placed.
I will predict 10,000 and we will see who is closer!
In the mid 2000s in Oshawa we were building 1,350 trucks a day and all of them were pre sold. Even at 10,000 orders that’s 7.5 days of production that I did in 2006. This is a colossal failure. GM needs 100,000 orders just to get a warm and fuzzy feeling of recouping some of their investment costs to design and build this thing. The Ford Lightning has scared a lot of people away from electric trucks.
400 miles of range. Ya, with perfect test conditions, no hills, wind resistance or any added passenger or cargo weight. I’m thinking 285 -320….MAX.
The whole state of Florida would be ideal, they don’t have HILLS !
Based off of the Silverado WT media drive 400 is real world.
Seeing as it’s a WT, let’s put 300 pounds of tools in the box, maybe a welder and hook a small utility trailer up to it and then we’ll see what it gets. Try 175-200, if you’re lucky.
It would be nice to see a plug in hybrid something like the chevy volt so you can tow a trailer or 5th wheel with out stopping to recharge every 100 miles. G.M. has the technology Y not put it to use.
The only positive about EVs is they’re not affected by altitude change in relation to HP. I had a 2019 2SS 1LE and I had lost approximately 50HP from the 455. Calgary is 3,500 feet above sea level. That’s kind of depressing.
Too bad designers work so hard to make a flowing dash board only to have tech heads bolt an over size lap top right in the middle of the dash.
Looking for government loan of no payments unless I can afford it were all you need is driver’s license and if so I want life insurance to pay loan back unless it is a grant I don’t have to pay back
