Bringing an all-electric variant to the Bow Tie’s popular pickup nameplate, the Chevy Silverado EV went into production last summer as the Work Truck trim began rolling off the assembly line for fleet customers. Now, dealers are taking orders for the 2024 Chevy Silverado EV RST First Edition, the upscale limited-edition trim level for the first model year.
Order for the 2024 Chevy Silverado EV RST First Edition will open on Monday, March 11th, with the ordering window staying open through Friday, March 29th, 2024, per the announcement from Chevrolet.
Chevy details the performance and advanced features offered by the 2024 Chevy Silverado EV RST First Edition, stating, “it’s strong. It’s game-changing. It’s everything that makes a Silverado a Silverado.” Power is headlined as the pickup’s defining feature, including the vehicle’s ability to develop 754 horsepower and 785 pound-feet of torque when in Wide Open Watts or WOW mode. This confirms the uprated output specs reported by GM Authority in October 2022.
This high power output and instant acceleration afforded by electric motors propels the Chevy Silverado EV RST from zero to 60 mph in 4.5 seconds. Chevy also notes the truck offers a GM-estimated range of 400 miles on a full charge, once again confirming earlier information about the model. The RST offers 10,000 pounds of towing capacity, with a payload of 1,300 pounds.
The Chevy Silverado EV RST First Edition offers a range of additional features, including the model’s Multi-Flex Tailgate as well as the Midgate that enables extending the pickup bed into the cab for carrying exceptionally long items of cargo. The 4WD configuration incorporates four-wheel steering similar to that of the GMC Hummer EV.
Turning to the interior, the RST First Edition gets a panoramic fixed glass roof extending the full length of the cockpit. Other RST features include an  11-inch digital Driver Information Center, 14-inch head-up display, a 17.7-inch touchscreen, wireless phone charging, and premium Bose stereo. GM Super Cruise is equipped as standard, as is an extensive list of safety technologies.
The RST is also visually distinctive, with a revised front fascia sporting wider intakes, a broader grille insert, and all-black color.
The Chevy Silverado EV RST First Edition utilizes GM Ultium battery technology and Ultium Drive motors for propulsion. The GM BT1 platform provides structure for the truck, while production will take place at the GM Factory Zero plant in Michigan, formerly called Detroit-Hamtramck.

You are a real risk taker to purchase a 1st Gen EV. There should be at least a 50% discount for those willing to be beta testers. No one has proven EV trucks are a viable alternative to existing ICE trucks.
Based on GM launch of every EV beginning with the EV1…….I will take a hard pass on the Silverado EV.
Nice looking with some good features, but if I had to buy an EVPU today it’d be something with a bit of a track record like a Rivian or a maybe a Fordâš¡
$105,000 price totally kills it, and any real chance of selling it any in great numbers, it won’t employ many at GM in the future with prices like that.
Could spend it on a nice vacation place the Sunshine State that you could rent out as well just run a more sensible sized new truck, family would appreciate that much more, which is likely to appreciate in value not drop in price like lead ballon like this expensive truck will in the first few years.
I love how they are taking orders now while I have never heard a word from them after taking my money for a reservation two years ago. What a joke they are! I was told 35,000 dollars two years ago. Now it is over45,000 for a stripped work truck? What a scam , the old bait and switch deal huh
I also paid $100 for a reservation over 2 years ago and never heard a word. After 1 year I called GM and was told my truck would be built as a 2025 model. The WT Silverado is what I want. Guess you must be a fleet operator to qualify. At least Tesla sent me a thank you when I reserved a Cybertruck.
I’d like know your your GM source for this order date information? None of the links in your article confirms the order date from an actual GM source. I have contacted my dealership, and they are unaware of this information. I also have a 2 year-old reservation, so I’d expect to be one of the first to get to order.
I stopped by Friday March 8, 2024. Dealer showed me a GM letter saying I can come in and spec out the order 11 March 2024 for a 2025 model Silverado EV WT. They did say the $39,900 was gone but had no idea of the new price. I’ll add comments Monday/Tuesday if it happens. My reservation was 19 January 2022 on the dealers paperwork.
Your experience so far is another reason many buyers will pass up any GM EV. GM has no respect for buyers who are trying to actually buy a GM EV. They have demonstrated this time after time.
the dealer called me last week to say they were finally ready to submit my order, the base version and the RST version, black, or white, those were the options. I said great, how much will they be? $86k and $107k. I about laughed out loud and told the poor girl, no thanks.
Just got the WT (work truck ) ev given to me by my
Employer so far not bad but did have a 80k price tag on it OK
