General Motors pulled the sheets on the all-new 2024 Chevy Trax in October of 2022, introducing new styling, larger exterior dimensions, a roomier interior, more tech features, and a new engine. The 2025 Chevy Trax follows its debut 2024 model year with several important updates and changes, including a new E85-compatible engine. Notably, the Chevy Trax just had its best-ever February sales performance, indicating that the crossover is poised for an excellent first quarter.
According to GM Authority sources, February of 2024 marked the best-ever sales performance for the Chevy Trax nameplate in the U.S. market. As a result, the Trax is expected to take the top spot in the mainstream subcompact crossover segment for Q1 of the 2024 calendar year. The Trax was ranked second in the segment with regard to sales volume during Q4 of 2023, with 44,127 units sold during that period, a massive 836-percent year-over-year increase compared to the 4,715 units sold during Q4 of 2022. Taking the top spot in the segment during Q4 of 2023 was the Subaru Crosstrek, with 44,561 units sold.

Obviously, the reason the Trax had such an outstanding sales performance this past February was down to the fact that it was the first February in which the hugely popular second-generation crossover was available. Indeed, the latest numbers point to some excellent sales strength for the new Trax, with a 582-percent sales increase in sales volume between the first and fourth quarters of the 2023 calendar year. It’s also worth pointing out that the Chevy Trax sold 109,382 units over the course of the 2023 calendar year, marking the nameplate’s best annual sales performance since 2019, during which 116,816 Trax units were sold, and the nameplate’s second-best sales year ever.
As a reminder, the second-gen Chevy Trax cradles the turbocharged 1.2L I3 LIH gasoline engine (U.S.-spec models produced for the 2025 model year are equipped with the E85-compatible turbocharged 1.2L I3 LBP engine). The GM VSS-F vehicle set provides the underpinnings, while production takes place at the GM Changwon plant in South Korea.

Considering Trax is right up there with the rest of the best sellers; if Trail Blazer had an AWD option, it would also climb up that sales chart.
I think of these little SUV’s as practical but anemic in power. Maybe I need to test-drive one to experience them for myself.
Ford is getting barbequed by imports
Trailblazer DOES have AWD option!
Give one a spin. I was skeptical until I drove the Encore GX in both the 1.2L and 1.3L versions. Acceleration for ramp entry was fine in both, and outperformed my 1.4L Encore. However, I do not drive in steep hills or mountains, so can’t really predict that.
We have a 2024 Trax 1RS. Have had since last Oct and it now has 14,000 kms .
Let me tell you the 1.2 with the 6 speed is a very compelling vehicle. The style , price ,comfort, room, the way it works etc. punches way above the class it resides in.
This may be the best new Chevy in 25 years . Take one for a spin , you will be impressed!!!
My bad, its the Trax that needs AWD
I test-drove the Blazer EV today; I do not want to take it away from the Trax. However, The Blazer EV is excellent; between it and the Model Y (I have driven the Model 3), there is no contest on which one I would take.
The weight is not even there.
My point is that the Blazer EV is the best Chevrolet out there right now.. minus the recalls, of course.
“take it away from the Trax. However, The Blazer”
Amazing what an extra $15,000 can get. Who knew??
People dont buy them to drag race them like an EV.. people like you kill me thinking everyone drives with a lead foot like you:)
AWD is for snow, not for lead footing it…
They aren’t anemic at all. Sure, it’s not going to keep up with a C8, but they’re peppy, can keep up with traffic just fine and are rather fun to drive.
GM dominates this segment – with its 2wd and AWD options.
I mean the blazer loss this month is small sign the trax is more popular choice . If they had to drop one I’d imagine be the blazer going foward .
America is HUNGRY for value in the new car market… With the price of any vehicle bordering OUTRAGEOUS, any car with a high value proposition is in high demand. I can’t think of any vehicle with a better value proposition than the Chevy Trax and Buick Envista. Low price, without the typical low-price penalty in styling. Chevy should be packaging ALL of their vehicles like the Trax. I’m not saying everytihng needs a 3-cylinder engine, but each Chevrolet should represent a class-leading value proposition with great American styling. Let Buick and GMC take up the slack in the middle/premium end of the mainstream market segment, and let Cadillac play in another league. The “every car needs to be top trimmed and $50k+” just doesnt make sense when you have 3 distinct channels to field your product across the non-luxury car market.
Saw the Buick Envista at the Calgary auto show. $34,000 Canadian!!! Ya it’s probably a bit lethargic at 136HP and no AWD option…. but $34,000. It looks as good as any Buick.
