GM has issued a voluntary emissions recall for certain units of the 2021 through 2023 Chevy Trailblazer to address an issue with the crossover’s engine control module, which may not properly clear an emissions-related code.
The problem:Â affected units of the Chevy Trailblazer may have an issue in which the engine control module (ECM) may not clear the permanent status of data trouble code (DTC) P0521 (Engine Oil Pressure Sensor Performance).
The hazards:Â if the ECM had previously set a DTC P0521 and the permanent status is not properly cleared, the affected Trailblazer may not pass certain Emissions Inspection/Maintenance tests. The check engine light may also illuminate. This could potentially cause inconvenience to the owner of the affected vehicle.
The fix: dealers will reprogram the ECM in affected Chevy Trailblazer units, free of charge to vehicle owners.
Affected components:Â engine control module (ECM).
Affected vehicles:Â
- 2021 Chevy Trailblazer
- 2022 Chevy Trailblazer
- 2023 Chevy Trailblazer
Number of affected vehicles: it’s unclear at this time how many vehicles may be affected by the aforementioned ECM issue. Note that some units of the 2020 through 2023 Buick Encore GX are also included in this voluntary emissions recall. Affected vehicles are located in the U.S. and Canada.
Owners should:Â wait for to be contacted by their dealer, or bring their vehicle to the dealership. For more information, owners may also reach out to Chevy directly using the information included below.

Considering the average new car runs on 150 million lines of computer code (per Motor Trend), I’m surprised they don’t glitch more often.
I just brought 2024 Chevy Trailblazer , LET ME KNOW IF MIND IS ONE OF THEM RECALLED
Will gm ever make a crossover that isn’t disposable?
It is like they don’t even care that toyota and honda are eating their lunch.
And yet GM still trails in sales by a wide margin.

There are countless other things on GM vehicles that should be included in formal recalls. Both a ’96 T10 Blazer I had and the ’07 Suburban I have now have the same dreaded worn lower door hinge on the driver side door which makes it sag to the point of binding against the quarter panel in front of it unless I make a point of lifting the door as I open it. I see it on numerous of their trucks on the road but also on some of their sedans. … never mind the disappearing digital displays so I don’t know how many miles I’ve driven and have to shift gears by feel .
… first-world problems, I guess 🤣🤣
For God’s sake, man. Your vehicles are 17 and 18 years old and you are complaining that your door hinge pin needs replacing?!! Just get the damn thing fixed and quit complaining. I had mine replaced after 21 years of service and 301,000 miles. That vehicle owes no-one anything.
Thank you for responding.
I have a 2021 Trailblazer and all of the sudden it is having a hard time starting!? It laggs and finally starts. My battey is good and I have also changed the batteries in my key fobs. Still having issues.. Could the recall be the prblem?
Probably not. Most auto parts stores can test your starting system for you and give you more answers
I have 2021 and have had nothing problems with it. Thinking about letting them repo it instead of keep making payments and fixing it. I haven’t even owned it a year and when I take it to get it fixed or serviced something else goes wrong.
