About Chevrolet Silverado 1500

For 2024, the Chevy Silverado 2.7L engine is called TurboMax. That engine now gets the Hydra-Matic 8L80 M5U revised eight-speed automatic transmission.

Also, the 2024 Silverado ZR2 offers the LZ0 Duramax diesel engine to provide more low-end torque while off-roading, joining the naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 L87 gasoline engine for available powerplants. That 6.2 liter will sound meaner thanks to a new Active Exhaust system. Additionally, the 2024 Silverado ZR2 is available with new beadlock-capable wheels along with new black and red beadlock wheel decorative rings.

Meanwhile, the 2024 Silverado High Country will be available with the Midnight Edition Package, and all trims of the 2024 Silverado 1500 offer a new drop-in bedliner and a new bed Utility Wall Package.

Here’s everything that’s new and different with the 2024 Chevy Silverado 1500.

Pricing details for the 2024 Chevy Silverado 1500 show that, compared to the previous model year, WT trims are now $500 more expensive, High Country trims are now $600 more expensive, and ZR2 and ZR2 Bison prices are down $1,600. The price drop for ZR2 and ZR2 Bison models is due to the fact that the 3.0L I6 LZ0 turbodiesel Duramax engine is now fitted as standard, whereas the more-expensive naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 L87 gasoline engine was the exclusive powertrain offered, which is now optional.

In August, the 2024 Silverado 1500 received a destination freight charge increase of $100 to bump the total to $1,995.

The Chevy Silverado 1500 now offers a ZR2 Spec Multimatic DSSV Shock System accessory for the 2019 model year or later Silverado 1500, with a design and tuning intended to provide the truck with improved off-road performance.

The online configurator tool is live for the 2024 Silverado and still live for the 2023 Silverado.

  1. GM has screwed up royally with the 4-cylinder TurboMax engine. They have spent tons of time, money, and incentives trying to convince us that it’s a good option for a full-sized Silverado. Now they are being recalled and replaced because of cracked blocks! No one should buy this engine unless GM provides a full engine warranty for 10 years and 150k miles. Oh and include the junk 8-speed transmission too. I am a lifetime GM guy but I am so disappointed with the quality problems with GM products that I am afraid to buy a new one. I am ready to write the check for a new Silverado but I’m beginning to think that my old one is better than a new one!? I’ll wait for GM to get its sh!t together first, I hope it happens soon. And no I don’t want an EV!

    1. Waiting for the comment that 8-cylinders are only for men who are compensating, that these the 4-bangers are bulletproof, and that all issues (that do not exist) are the fault of poor maintenance by the owners.

      1. cracked block is not the fault of the owners

        1. Lol no one said it was the fault of owners. GM is doing a recall on the effected vehicles. I have this engine and love it! So far lucky to be adopting a platform relatively early and not having any issues. This is a great base engine and a smart move by GM and it will be even better as they dial this engine over time.

    2. I have a TurboMax and I think it’s a great engine. It’s a very smart movie for the base truck engine on GMs part. Every platform has growing pains and this is the first big issue for the TurboTax and it only applies to a small number of engine. I really don’t understand people complaining when a manufacture admits an ssue and remedies the issue. It could be worse, I had a 2005 F150 with the time bomb of an engine. The 3v 5.4l triton could not be fixed because it was such a poor design and Ford fought tooth and nail to avoid doing the recalls and won in court. I’ll stick with Chevy. If I could afford dealer mark ups then I’d only consider Toyota.

    1. Yeah my local dealer will no longer get my business due to MSRP add-ons and refusal to honor the GM employee discount. I am taking my business down the road to a different dealer.

  6. I wish they would would warranty the peeling paint on my 2015 Silverado 1500. I became disabled and could no longer work in the extraction of Natural Gas in Wyoming. I am a living Country Song. I compiled chemicals in my system in 2.5 years to give me Multiple Myeloma Blood cancer. I had a seizure while working on the Drill Rig as a Rig Hand. Long story short, my Workers comp Attorney, The Medical Board and Courts lied. They concurred and said I was out of appeals when I had the Supreme court left.
I traded in my Cadillac and New Duramax for this Silverado 1500 that currently has 27,000 miles. Yes, TWENTY SEVEN THOUSAND MILES! I am disabled and cant afford new paint…
