Back in Q3 2023, the average transaction price of the Chevy Bolt EV stood at $33,364 per unit. Now, the ATP of the Bow Tie brand’s now-defunct all-electric hatchback made a notable drop the following fiscal quarter.
According to a report from Cox Automotive, the average transaction price of the Chevy Bolt EV dropped 8.1 percent from Q3 2023 levels to $30,675 in Q4 2023, which is actually up 1.1 percent on a year-over-year basis. Meanwhile, sales of Chevy’s affordable electric hatch plummeted more than 22 percent to 3,789 units.
It’s worth noting that sales of the Bow Tie brand fell 0.5 percent to 406,848 units in Q4 2023, while overall General Motors sales increased just 0.2 percent to 619,684 units.
As a reminder, General Motors CEO Mary Barra recently indicated that the next-gen Chevy Bolt EV will likely launch in the summer or fall of the 2025 calendar year as a 2026 model-year vehicle, coming several months after the Detroit-based automaker confirmed that a second-gen Bolt EV would indeed exist.
In regard to these upcoming all-electric vehicles, not too many details are known as of the time of this writing. However, GM Authority has gathered that the next-gen Bolt EV will be based on the outgoing Chevy Bolt EUV rather than being a clean-sheet design, and could be built at the GM Fairfax plant in Kansas.
In addition, the second-gen Bolt EV and Bolt EUV will be equipped with lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries, which will be purchased from a supplier. This is quite the interesting development, as the Bolts have also been confirmed to utilize GM’s latest Ultium-based EV technology, which currently feature a nickel-cobalt-manganese-aluminum (NCMA) chemistry. With that in mind, be sure to stay tuned in for updates.
