Alex Lynn, Earl Bamber and Sebastien Bourdais shared the wheel of the No. 2 Cadillac V-Series.R race car for the FIA World Endurance Championship season opener at Qatar on March 2nd, 2024. The 10-hour race was eventful to say the least, as the Caddy team had to recover from an early crash that put them well off the pace.
The No. 94 Peugeot of Stoffel Vandoorne, Paul di Resta and Loïc Duval spun off the course after making contact with the No. 2 V-Series.R. This resulted in damage to the Caddy’s left front fender, but the issues were quickly addressed. The race car was turned back out, slipping as low as 15th in the standings before its trio of drivers fought back through traffic.
All said and done, the No. 2 Cadillac V-Series.R crossed the line in fourth after a hard-fought race. It finished one lap behind the Hypercar division winner, the No. 6 Porsche of Kévin Estre, Andre Lotterer and Laurens Vanthoor.
Cadillac streamed most of the Qatar 1812 Km with a live in-car camera, giving fans a firsthand view of the on-track action throughout the challenging endurance race.
While its current drivers battle on track in the WEC and IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, Cadillac Racing is working on breaking into another international racing series: Formula One. GM teamed up with Andretti Global to pursue a Cadillac F1 entry, despite the fact that the General was reportedly asked to consider partnering with another organization. However, F1 rejected GM’s application to become the 11th team on the grid for 2025, although GM is still confident that the project will pull through. In fact, GM is already registered to be an F1 power unit manufacturer for 2028, and has started testing and development of a prototype.
