Cadillac has several important debuts on the docket for 2024 – in fact, the luxury marque just added to that list by teasing the new Opulent Velocity, a high-performance, zero-emission concept vehicle. However, Caddy isn’t bringing anything new to the upcoming 2024 New York International Auto Show (NYIAS). As it turns out, the brand won’t even have a booth on the show floor.
According to GM Authority sources, Cadillac has opted to skip the NYIAS this year. Per previous GM Authority coverage, GM will still have an official presence on the show floor, set to arrive with various models from the Chevy, GMC, and Buick brands. Caddy, however, will be missing from this year’s event. Critically, GM will not debut any new products at the show, even with a long list of potential debuts in its back pocket. That includes several Caddy models, as well as Buick, Chevy and GMC models to boot, such as:
- Buick Electra E5
- 2025 Buick Enclave
- Cadillac Lyriq-V
- Cadillac Opulent Velocity concept
- 2025 Cadillac Escalade/ESV
- 2025 Cadillac Escalade IQL
- 2025 Chevy Corvette ZR1
- 2025 GMC Terrain
- 2025 GMC Yukon
Like the rest of the automotive industry, General Motors is slowly pulling back from the major auto shows. Back in 2022, The General was on the show floor in New York with only one of its four U.S. brands, with Buick, GMC, and Caddy sitting out, while GM has previously elected to sit on the sidelines for the Chicago Auto Show and SEMA as well.
Meanwhile, GM rival Stellantis has announced plans to forgo an official presence at North American auto shows outright, citing a “challenging automotive market in North America” and a desire to “optimize its marketing strategy as it relates to auto shows.”
Although Caddy will not attend the 2024 NYIAS with any debut or a booth, the all-electric Lyriq crossover is still expected to be a part of the show’s EV Ride and Drive track.

WAY beyond stupid. GM is rapidly reaching Ford’s level of pure stupidity.
New York is a cesspool of crime and homelessness. Its no longer a place Cadillac should want to be associated with.
wow spoken like somebody who has never been near it.
never mind that a single apartment in ny is worth more than your entire fly over zip code
Go ahead, bite the rotten big apple. Don’t mind the maggots.
Guess what? We’ll skip too! I quit going to the Indy show a couple of years ago because it had shrunk so much.
Simply look at Cadillac’s current offerings and planned new-products in China compared to the U.S.. Pretty easy to figure-out their focus, investment and growth targets.
A “purchase” is a “vote”.
Well US buyers are obsessed with trucks and SUVs, meanwhile in China they’re buying all of Cadillac’s offerings…. Cadillac is a business, China seems to be supporting the brand more than Americans.
Auto shows are only challenging when you do not build anything anyone wants to see.
The criminal sympathizers want people and vendors not to come to these events. CADILLAC should have come anyway since NYC is a huge market in spite of what’s going on now. Why spoil it for good people?
FORD is stupid and in deep trouble so having LINCOLN not show up is in some ways academic since LINCOLN’s are mostly rebadged FORD equivalents anyway. At least the CADILLAC brand does have sedans to display.
I wait in line to sit in Mercedes and BMWs I can’t afford. Smug Maserati guy was reluctant to let my family sit in a Levante. Oh, the memories. I’m skipping NY.
I checked out the “future” Pontiac Solstice at the Indy show in the early 2000’s. I left my contact info with the show rep and he sent me a very cool promotional package that I still have along with a low miles red 2007 Solstice in the garage. These shows work if the manufacturers use them to their advantage.
I have purchased my LAST Cadillac ,shame they have elected to replace quality with quantity,I am retired GM employee and hard to understand that GM is baby sitting china unless it is for the yen.
Seems like a big mistake. Lots of wealth still in NY and its also a media capital. Cadillac really seems to be on the ropes. Escalade is their only big seller or marquee product. The XT line of crossovers seems to have been forgotten, while competitors including Lincoln are pouring resources into that segment. Cadillac really needs a breakout product that redefines the brand and drives interest, like the Escalade did 20 years ago. How about a big coupe, reminiscent of Eldorado and available in limited quantities. Dust off the mothballed CT6 chassis, drop a sexy coupe body on it and offer it with either the Blackwing V8 or a potent Hybrid V6 powertrain. A convertible version would also be interesting. Or a new Seville type sedan in the vein of the original; moderate size but very plush and comfort oriented. Or… just close the damn division and use the money to reintroduce Pontiac, starting with a new Grand Prix!
As nice as the ESCALLADE is, it’s not what comes to mind when you say CADILLAC. To me it’s a larger sedan that comes to mind same with BUICK. Instead the top vehicle is a rebadged SUBURBAN/YUKON. I agree with you to an extent about the CT6. That was a beautiful sedan that they discontinued way too soon. Sadly, CADILLAC should not have built their own engines for their cars. The NORTHSTAR had a fair to bad reputation in terms of quality. GM has a long history of duplication and overlap. GM has well proven engines that could have been used instead of spending tons of money to develop that NORTHSTAR line. I mean who cares if your CADILLAC sedan had a V8 that wasn’t part of the NORTHSTAR or BLACKWING family?
Would you go to NY these days? I was just there last year, not ever going back.
Chicago has the best auto shows in the United States. I just went to the Houston Auto and Boat (combined) show. The Buick Envision was not on the showroom floor. There was no Audi, Mercedes, Tesla, Rivian, Lucid or BMW. It would have been nice to have seen a VinFast, Tata or BYD, just for perspectives. In the 70’s and 80’s, auto shows would feature futurist or concept cars on the showroom floor. I guess those days are gone but I surely miss the ‘Good Ole Auto Show’ days.
Aahh the Chicago Autoshow that still calls itself the nations largest autoahow, its wrong, all the autoshows are shrinking, Chicago used to be both the south and north halls combined using all the space and then it started shrinking, this year it was all contained in the south hall. NYC is still using 1 hall for cars and 1 hall for ev drive tracks, detroit was tiny compared to pre pandemic, but that one has been shrinking for years, and the LA autoshow though still uses the west and south halls have a lont of brands not coming, and those are what the industry calls the global shows. They are all more like regional shows these days.
People just don’t attend these shows anymore in the numbers they used to, so lots of manufactures focus their budgets else where.
Cadillac really has nothing to offer for 2025, unless you want a gawd awful SUV. The last good Cadillac sedan was discontinued, then reprised only for China. The era of roomy, luxurious, comfortable Cadillacs is OVER. Hang on to your older Cadillacs gentleman.
