As GM Authority covered previously, Cadillac is expanding the high-performance V-Series lineup with a new all-electric model some time this year, and although the luxury marque has yet to confirm as much, the model in question is likely the hotly anticipated Cadillac Lyriq-V. GM Authority has been covering the Cadillac Lyriq-V since 2021, and now, it sounds like the performance crossover could finally drop cover this month.
Cadillac recently announced that it will cap off its 20th anniversary celebration of V-Series with an event taking place during the month of March, 2024, and at present, all signs seem to point to the debut of the Cadillac Lyriq-V.
“While we will never stop celebrating the V-Series, we will be taking a final lap with a 20th Anniversary Celebration in March – you don’t want to miss this,” Cadillac teased.
Although Cadillac did not specifically mention the new Lyriq-V, it’s the most logical next-step for the V-Series lineup. Back in April of 2021, GM Authority exclusively reported that General Motors was considering the development of a new high-performance Lyriq variant. A slew of hints have dropped since that back our original report, including a new V-Series model variant listed under the Cadillac Lyriq trim level pull-down menu at the official Cadillac accessories website, plus spy photos of a potential prototype model and further GM Authority exclusive details.
Cadillac has also confirmed that if it were to release an all-electric V-Series model, it would follow tradition in packing more power than the standard model. With that in mind, we should mention that the current two-motor, all-wheel-drive Lyriq is rated at 500 horsepower and 450 pound-feet of torque, enough to launch it to 60 mph in 4.6 seconds.
Beyond a power boost, the potential Cadillac Lyriq-V will also likely debut more aggressive styling, sharper handling, and two optional appearance packages.

Yet more brain-deadness going on at GM. ICEs and only ICEs! Talk about a total waste of MORE money.
EVs and only EVs. No more ICEs. Nothing in Cadillacs current lineup trumps The Lyriq. Your gasoline tears are lost to the future.
We can’t sell the normal ones why do people think people want electric cars?
The Lyriq was only second to the Escalade in sales in Q4.
Not according to GMA. Q4, lyriq 3820; CT4 1805. Everything else was over 4K units. So next to last, not second to first. Escalade (combined) over10K, and as I always say, where all the profit comes from. Without the slade, Cadillac would close up.
So….if Dodge added “Hemi” to their new EV, or Ford offered a “Shelby Cobra Super Snake” edition on their Mustang EV, how “believable” would that be?
Well, Ford did make the Mach E, an electric CUV, and slap the Mustang name on it. As predicted, it’s not selling as well as they wanted.
The Mach E is a rush-job comparatively and it shows.
Being based off a heavily modified ICE platform meant for FWD models (C2) meant it was handicapped from the get go.
Ford dealers also were never given the right guidance on how to sell it.
Dodge can make their EVs sound Hemi-ish. A few strategically place exterior speakers and a digital soundtrack and……..Boom. Hellcat heaven. What a joke.
I’m happy that cadillac will have more performance-oriented EVs, but I wish that they would start with making more attractive EVs to start with. Still looking for a CT4/5 scale EV sedan to compete with tesla models 3/S.
Message to all EV manufacturers – To get out of a hole, quit digging.
How about making a new Cadillac XLR-V It’s an awesome car.
The ELR is a pretty sweet looking ride.
I almost picked one up a couple times when there were good deals on used ones, but I had already gone full BEV at that point, and couldn’t see going backward.
But if they did a nice BEV sedan along the lines of the ELR, It would be very tempting
Another EV that won’t sell well and likely will get slapped with a stop sale for any number of reasons.
HEV and PHEV is the answer.
PHEV stopped being useful 10 years ago. Let’s be real with ourselves. The Ultium platform is just what GM needs to step up. I’ve taken many trips coast to coast since getting my Lyiriq last year, and it’s nothing short of what’s been missing to revitalize the American road tripping experience. Sure the volt works, but ICE is incredibly inferior, right into ride feel.
We drive Dallas to LA a couple of times a year and there are some pretty long stretches with few charging stations. I wouldn’t want to do it in an EV at this point. Highway range isn’t what it needs to be for those long days. If you stay on the interstates, things might not be so bad, but if you are driving in remote mountain areas and deserts things could get dicey in a hurry. I’ll hang on to my ICE vehicles for a while longer. I’ve ridden in a few EVs and I really don’t remember being particularly impressed by the ride. However, without any engine noise you could hear the tire slap better.
While not sure of your exact route, the Lyriq has done very well with this. Also, as far as being impressed by the ride, the Lyriq has this covered, too. It’s just one of those cars that are easily to really be happy about, all the time, and enjoy every moment in the cabin generally. Have been off gasoline since 2012.
I’ve run out of gas a ton of times in my life. Never once ran out of electricity.
There’s not been a moment of regret.
The Miami Open maybe as a reveal location?
Seen one on Hilton head SC two or three days ago driving down pope avenue
There is a monumental shortage of qualified mechanics in North American. Young people today don’t want to get their hands dirty. Who is going to fix these EVs when sh&t starts going wrong? GM is gonna have to pay techs $150,000 a year just to even get young people interested.
