These days, if you’re looking for a sporty Cadillac sedan with internal combustion under the hood, the Cadillac CT4 and Cadillac CT5 are solid options, especially the V-Series models. However, for bargain hunters, there are arguably even better options on the used market, including the Cadillac CTS V-Sport. In fact, the Cadillac CTS V-Sport has quietly become a stellar deal on the luxury used sport sedan market.
As of this writing, there are currently 29 examples of the Cadillac CTS V-Sport available nationwide on Autotrader. Some high-mile examples are going for less than $20,000, while clean, low-mile, well-optioned models are available for well under $40,000.
One particular used 2019 Cadillac CTS V-Sport available from Classic Acura in Beaumont, Texas is priced at $29,994, and shows less than 60,000 miles on the clock, with a Crystal White Tricoat exterior and Jet Black interior with leather seating surfaces and Natural Sapele wood trim. Highlights include cooled front seats, a leather steering wheel, lane departure warning, lane keeping assist, automatic parking, and a set of aftermarket wheels.
Meanwhile, the Cadillac CT5-V, offered as the indirect successor to the Cadillac CTS V-Sport, starts at $52,890, including destination freight charge. The CT5-V is less powerful than the CTS V-Sport, cradling the twin-turbocharged 3.0L V6 LGY gasoline engine, rated at 360 horsepower and 405 pound-feet of torque. Compare that to the CTS V-Sport, which cradles the twin-turbocharged 3.6L V6 LF3 rated at 420 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque.
The Cadillac CTS V-Sport was roundly praised by critics, yet largely ignored by buyers. The 2014 CTS secured MotorTrend’s Car of the Year award largely based on the publication’s experience in the V-Sport, while the CTS V-Sport also secured a spot on Car & Driver’s 10Best list. Road & Track was also quite fond of the CTS V-Sport, even calling the car “criminally overlooked.” For those readers who may be unaware, the CTS V-Sport features sport-tuned suspension, Brembo brakes, an electronic limited-slip differential, and rides on the GM Alpha platform.

Nothing new. Tuners have been using these for a while.
As long as it is not a coupe or wagon they are cheap.
The car in the article is a gen 3 cts. Wagon ended at gen 2. V-sport was created at gen 3 and gen 3 went to alpha. Gen 2 was on Sigma, unique to caddy and pretty heavy. And yes the gen2 wagon V still commands a very good price. I look occasionally just to see what mine is worth and am amazed what people list a 12 year old car for. I’ve seen some listed for more than I paid for mine new. But the V wagon only had around 1600 made. They had to discount them when they were new ironically. No demand.
Ah yes, back when wagons were wagons! There days station wagons are called SUVs, (anything but the more comfortable and family practical mini vans -gasp)! Too cool.
C8.R is correct tho — coupes, too, ain’t cheap, as they ought not be. The engines, suspension and body lines are correctly priced by the market, even if they are a bit on the heavy side. The lines are classic and ageless. Still a bargain in my mind.
I was just gonna say. Vanguard Motors had a gorgeous Opulent Blue Metallic CTS-V wagon in manual that sold for $90k.
I would only be concerned with the maintenance bill when something breaks.
Most drive train and suspension is common GM parts bin. The LF3 in these are updated (more stout) from the very reliable LFX. Granted, turbos add maintenance costs at some point but anything in the performance class has a SC or turbos.
OEM Magnetic shocks and struts for it may be difficult to find in the 2030s, since few Alpha Cadillacs were sold with them (I don’t know about Camaros or if they fit). Front ones for the STS4 are no longer offered online, and it sold better.
Define “dirt-cheap”.
A high miles vehicle with a 20 grand ( /-) price and a cleaner lower miles for around 40 grand is not cheap in my book.
I just had this conversation with my nephew last week. He sent me a link to a well used 2015 Chevy Tahoe LTZ with 123K on the clock. They wanted 25 grand and it was a RWD at that!!!! I asked him if he was out of his mind, but he didn’t like that. Said he thought he could pick it up for around 19 grand. I still laughed at him. He lives in the wintery Wisconsin no less.
poor soul. You must be resilient in the face of a three-card monty dealer. The dream gets in front of the thought during negotiations…
🤣
No surprise pricing on them from the start were over priced.
I was in the market for different V-series Caddies for a whole lot of years, but GM has refused to give them (and most of their entire lineup) AWD until recently. Too little, too late. There are just way better alternatives now.
Who in God’s name wrote this?
DIRT CHEAP? $20,000 to $40,000!
You CALL THIS PRICE DIRT CHEAP?!
Please fire whoever wrote this…have them get a real job., instead of posting crap like this…
Meaning the car is a valued sports car and is well worth this price… The corvette engine alone would cost 1/2 to 3/4 of the 20k alone.
I have 2009 Cadillac CTS 3.6l DI, awd and has a little over 300hp, 273tq. This 51yr old man is very pleased with the car!
Hth
the lack of AWD was the kicker; this 67-year-old man would be very pleased with that also!
Jesus, where do you live that dirt costs $40,000?!?
Dirt cheap? I agree with everyone else, 20 to 40k is not cheap at all.
I, only a few months ago, bought my ATS coupe(not even a V) for about $15k which seemed ok. But still far and above the most expensive car I have ever bought! I love it, but still. Used to be you could spend 5k or less and buy something dependable.
Definition of cheap is coo coo
I have a ct5 v blackwing. Compared to that, those are cheap.
They’re still not cheap. You just grossly overpaid for your 5 Blackwing, so it seems cheap.
You have no idea what I paid for it. Lol.
This is a bad buy. I bought a clean V2 for $20k. Reliable LSA engine with a 6l90e. No issues and have been daily driving it
You don’t know how much I paid for it either, so how can you determine if it was a bad buy? Unless you’re just talking “in general,” saying that buying that specific car is a “bad buy.” Then saying your car is better because you’ve had no issues. I also drive my car daily and have no issues. I also race it and have no issues. Does that make it a better car? No. This thread was about buying a cheap luxury vehicle. Did it make you feel better to come on here and try and bash a woman for buying a luxury vehicle? Or are you just jealous because you can’t afford one?
No thanks these cadillacs are some of the most troublesome and unreliable cars evr made. I just bought a new Toyota Camry XSE V6(301 HP). Brand new for 38000.00$ it will last at least 20 years or 300000 miles without the drama of these garage queen cadillacs, that will need more and more attention as time goes by. The whole CTS series of cadillacs have been plauged with all sorts of mechanical breakdown issues since day one! Plus the sport camry performance is very respectable for a front wheel drive car.
This Old Man has a CTS V coupe and it’s fast and beautiful and I love it all the people bitching are probably going for the 4 door. Did You have AWD on the car You drove way back when?
Loved the car but lack of awd and the cue infotainment system kept me from pulling the trigger.. went with LS460 Awd instead..
I see people complaining about 20 and 40k, I’m about to buy a used diesel truck for 60k. This a luxury car, not sure what Mercedes or jaguar costs are but promise it’s well over 20 to 40k
Love, love, love this car. My dream car!! Drives awesome!
Would love to take it to the track!
I have an 09 cts 3.6 rwd got it for 12k in ’21 with 40k miles on it more than pleased with it.
I recall an article that started my CTS-V obsession, for me it’s a ‘HotRod in a Business Suit’, the article explained how the CTS-V Wagon had unexpectedly surpassed it’s 2dr and 4dr siblings with an impressive track time that they simply couldn’t match, a track time that even beat the California Ferrari. It’s was all due to the wheel base adding to it’s already advanced cornering & handling giving it the upper hand on shaving off the seconds. This vehicle and it’s throaty rumble will forever be at the top off my list. Although my kids are now grown and it would seem I’ve missed my opportunity to own the ultimate family hauler, the CTS-V wagon that is both fast enough and loud enough off the line to immediately humble any back sest argument between siblings while holding a stance & appearance of sincerity, class, & power… Suddenly I realize that surely there will be grand kids in the near future…. And the manifestations begin again, it’s mearly a larger asset with better value then it was a few years back. Ya all enjoy your Hell Cats, I’ll stick with my ‘HotRod in A Business Suit’ thank you…
