Although the Cadillac CT4 shares many parts and features with its bigger brother, the Cadillac CT5, Caddy’s entry-level luxury sedan hasn’t seen the same levels of sales success the CT5 has. However, the average transaction price (ATP) of the CT4 rose slightly throughout Q4 2023.
According to a report from Cox Automotive, the average transaction price of the Cadillac CT4 increased 2.2 percent to $51,306. That’s the good news, but sales of the luxury sedan fell more than 17 percent to 1,805 units in the same timeframe, making it the least popular Cadillac model.
It’s worth noting that sales of the luxury marque dropped seven percent to 36,378 units during Q4 2023, while overall General Motors sales stood at a 0.2 percent gain to 619,684 units.
Of course, these subpar sales numbers have led many to believe the writing is on the wall for Caddy’s entry-level luxury sedan. In fact, a mid-cycle refresh for the 2025 CT5 has already been officially revealed, while GM Authority spy photographers haven’t even spotted a single prototype CT4 on public roads. This indicates that General Motors is gearing up to discontinue its most affordable sedan. However, the Detroit-based automaker recently confirmed that the CT4 will return for the 2025 model year, meaning the luxury marque’s sedan will remain on U.S. Cadillac dealership floors for the time being. That said, it’s not hard to imagine a near future where Cadillac only has one sedan offering as SUVs dominate luxury vehicle sales.
To recap, the Cadillac CT4 is available with three powerplant choices, including the turbocharged 2.0L I4 LSY engine, rated at 237 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque, the turbocharged 2.7L I4 L3B engine, rated at 310 horsepower and 350 pound-feet of torque (or 325 horsepower and 380 pound-feet of torque in the CT4-V), and the twin-turbocharged 3.6L V6 LF4 engine in the Blackwing model, rated at 472 horsepower and 445 pound-feet of torque.
Regarding structure, the entry-level luxury sedan rides on the GM Alpha 2 platform, while North American production takes place at the GM Lansing Grand River plant in Michigan.
