The GM Authority Take
Buick Envision sales moved up to third place from last quarter, beating out most of the field. Better yet, combined sales of the Envision with those of the Cadillac XT4 placed GM second in this space, accounting for almost a fifth of all deliveries. However, no automaker or model touched the Lexus NX, which beat GM by 8.5K deliveries.
While the Envision continues to perform well, the forthcoming refreshed 2024 model should help the small premium crossover gain sales when it hits dealerships. While that has been delayed several times, GM has confirmed that the updated Envision will indeed arrive during Q1 2024, as previously announced.
About Buick Envision
The 2023 Buick Envision represents the third model year of the crossover’s second generation. It remains essentially unchanged from the 2022 Buick Envision, save for a few updates to the color palette and equipment, including new standard equipment added to the Avenir trim level.
In North America, the Envision continues to be powered solely by GM’s turbocharged 2.0L I4 LSY engine, rated at 228 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. The four-cylinder is mated to the GM nine-speed automatic transmission, with front-wheel-drive standard and all-wheel-drive optional.
In December 2022, Consumer Reports named the Buick Envision among the best vehicles to fit three child car seats. It gave the 2023 Buick Envision a “recommended” rating a month later.
This past November, Buick ranked first In the J.D. Power 2023 U.S. Sales Satisfaction Index for the second year in a row.
However, Buick ranked average in the Consumer Reports 2024 reliability report, though it still placed above the average dependability of U.S. automakers, and the premium marque leads domestic brands in the Consumer Reports 2024 rankings, placing Buick directly ahead of Cadillac.
The 2024 Buick Envision introduces a mid-cycle refresh with new styling and a revised interior. The lineup now includes Preferred, Sport Touring (ST), and Avenir trim levels. It follows the Y trim structure making its way through all four GM brands in the U.S. A first for the nameplate, ST is a new standalone trim that replaces the mid-tier Essence trim along with the Sport Touring Package previously offered on Preferred and Essence trims. Regardless of the name, however, ST does not bring any performance upgrades.
And while the 2024 Envision won’t offer Super Cruise after all due to unspecified constraints, the Technology Package I will now be included as standard on all 2024 Envision trim levels, which features the Bose Premium nine-speaker audio system and a Head-Up Display. Additionally, the 2024 Envision does offer many new standard safety features. The 2024 Envision loses two paint colors, Rich Garnet Metallic and Sapphire Metallic, which are replaced by Calypso Blue Metallic and Smokey Amethyst Metallic.
For the first time, the 2024 Buick Envision offers standard all-wheel drive in the U.S., specifically a twin-clutch AWD system. The turbocharged LSY engine will remain the sole powertrain available on the 2024 Envision.

Made in China part aside, it’s an excellent Goldilocks vehicle where its not too large and not too small. It has the right amount of creature comforts and the 2.0l Turbo is plenty peppy and fuel efficient and its a good looking SUV without it being offensive (like Lexus as of late). I was always a fan of mid-sized Buick SUVs since the Rainier. I only wish they didn’t do away with the tri-zone climate controls the previous Envision had.
No problem with China. If all vehicles were made there maybe we would have some quality, well designed vehicles. I hope the Canyon/Colorado production is moved to China. Maybe they can get it right.
I have a brand new Lenovo laptop for one of my jobsites and whenever I put my phone on the base next to the touchpad the laptop freezes and crashes. I never seen this issue before and have never experienced it with my MacBook, my office Dell, or my wifes HP. The claim that Chinese products have become better in quality is a fallacy. More like they got better at masking the quality issues.
85ZingoGTR, turn off Bluetooth on the phone and see what happens.
Does it matter when with Bluetooth on the issue doesn’t happen with other computers? Either way, too late to try it now. I don’t have that computer anymore as I had to turn it in when we finished that project.
How patriotic of you!
I can say that it at least it has a few character lines, to go with the new hideous front facsia styling That’s far more more than the new upcoming Enclave. But then again, I don’t believe there is much to say that’s premium about it, even the mod expensive CADILLAC, has enough cheap plastic inside and out to keep LEGO’S in business for at least a year! I guess you could say that, I am just tired of over valued vehicles, that don’t come close to being what they should be!
Impressive. Lucky it wasn’t an EV or it may have struggled against the defunct X2. A hybrid offering would have really filled out the model range well and like bumped it solidly to second place.
My son just purchased a new 23 Avenir. The dealer discounted $3500 because they had a quantity of leftovers, and there was a GM rebate as well. Without the reduced price he would have not been able to purchase.
Just bought a new car in this segment, an Audi Q3. We did not consider the Envision because we deemed it a bit too wide to fit in the garage with our GMC Terrain. It’s over 74″ wide. Couldn’t consider the XT4 either as it is even wider. Also, the Audi Q3 is 6″ shorter than the Envision and Terrain which makes it extra nice for parking.
Well this proves it for me. I much prefer the outgoing Envision to the upcoming model. Way more graceful and integrated. New face lends the car an angry russet potato look, the front end looks painful.
