Attempted Chevy Camaro ZL1 Theft Foiled By Security System: Video

A Chevy Camaro owner in Long Beach, California faced a scary scenario last week after discovering car thieves attempting to steal his 2020 Chevy Camaro ZL1 in the early morning hours. Luckily, the thieves were unable to start the car thanks to an aftermarket security system installed prior to the attempted heist. Officials report a dramatic increase in Chevy Camaro in the city of Los Angeles over the last few months.

According to a recent report from local news outlet KTLA 5, the attempted theft occurred around 4 a.m. on Friday, March 15th. The Chevy Camaro owner, Conrad Bautista, woke up to the sound of his car alarm blaring and knew exactly what was happening.

After checking his security cameras, Bautista saw three individuals outside his home, one of which was attempting to steal his Chevy Camaro ZL1. Another individual was standing nearby and was armed with a pistol, occasionally pointing the gun at Bautista’s front door, while the third individual waited in a getaway car.

Luckily, the thieves failed in their attempt thanks the the installation of an anti-theft device, which prevented them from starting the car.

According to police, thieves often use key cloning devices to mimic the signal produced by a key fob, allowing them to start and drive the vehicle. In this particular circumstance, the anti-theft device prevented that from happening.

It’s advised that anyone who owns a high-value vehicle like the Chevy Camaro ZL1 purchase and install one of these anti-theft devices, as well as park in a secure area.

    1. Yes, it is becoming crazy. Our local DA would rather prosecute officers for doing what they are told rather than criminals. No wonder our local force is short 300 officers with more resigning. I say let’s bring back horse thievery hangings, where the car is the same as a horse, as it really is. Transportation.

  2. I read stories that people used to be hanged in the US when they stole horses. Vehicles are the equivalent of horses. Just saying.

  5. There are a large number of “anti-theft” devices on the market, which are useless, and expensive. It would be nice to know what actually works, as demonstrated in this story!
