AEV Launches Sierra AT4X AEV Edition, Silverado ZR2 Bison Winch Installation Kit

For those off-road enthusiasts that enjoy tackling the more challenging trails out there, a winch is an absolutely indispensable piece of equipment. Luckily, off-roader pickups like the GMC Sierra AT4X AEV Edition and Chevy Silverado ZR2 Bison are equipped from the factory with provisions in the front bumper to mount a winch accessory. As such, the off-road specialists at American Expedition Vehicles (AEV) offer an AEV winch installation kit designed specifically to add the GM Accessories winch to these two vehicles.

AEV offers a winch installation kit for the GMC Sierra AT4X AEV Edition and Chevy Silverado ZR2 Bison.

For those readers who may be unaware, AEV took part in the development of the GMC Sierra AT4X AEV Edition and Chevy Silverado ZR2 Bison, with both pickups fitted with a range of AEV-sourced components, including a stamped steel front bumper with a spot to mount a winch accessory. As such, the AEV winch kit makes mounting the GM Accessories winch relatively easy and straightforward for those owners looking to take their rig into the wilds.

Offered for both the light-duty 1500 models and the heavy-duty HD models, the kit includes a 2mm-thick zinc e-coated winch solenoid mounting bracket, as well as a license plate mounting bracket, AEV winch hook isolator, and the associated hardware needed for installation.

The kit was designed specifically for the AEV steel bumper equipped by the GMC Sierra AT4X AEV Edition and Chevy Silverado ZR2 Bison, and mounts the GM Accessories 12.5 ComeUp winch kit on HD models and GM Accessories 9.5 ComeUp winch kit on light-duty models. AEV also states that the kit was tested to ensure properly cooling for the engine with the winch installed.

Pricing for the kit starts at $349 for light duty models and $499 for HD models, per the AEV website. AEV rates the installation difficulty as “Moderate,” with an estimated install time of seven hours. The AEV website also includes an installation guide for those looking to do it at home.

  2. I cancelled my order on the 2023 HD after it did not come with it. About darn time. However, for 105k for the AEV it should be factory sorry guys. Get with the times. I’ll stick with the power wagon until you get it right.

    1. Your Power Wagon’s front and rear bumper is a sad excuse for an offroad bumper. Let’s talk about the lack of armor the Power Wagon has before pointing out how the winch isn’t standard.

      1. Not to mention the low towing capacity the Power Wagon has. Not blaming the engine, but the 6.4 MDS can be an issue with age unlike the 6.6L L8T which does not have it. He must NOT idle his PW for long and must change oil regularly.

    1. Hey guy you are overly sensitive. My point stands. I have followed this truck since it was a concept. I was disappointed what they showed was it having the winch only to not have it available to order when the final production model was released. I will own one in due time once a few more colors come along. The shortcomings on the power wagon are long indeed.
Starting with the lack of a diesel. Keep on trolling haha joke.
