2025 Polestar 4 Debuts In U.S. As Cadillac Optiq Rival

Swedish EV manufacturer Polestar has unveiled the 2025 Polestar 4 at the 2024 New York International Auto Show, marking the North American debut for the brand’s all-new, all-electric crossover coupe. Starting under $55,000, the Polestar 4 will be available in multiple configurations and performance levels, with U.S. sales kicking off in April. When it arrives, the Polestar 4 will rival the Cadillac Optiq.

The Polestar 4 arrives as Polestar’s second crossover and slots in between the Polestar 2 and Polestar 3 with regard to size and pricing. Preliminary exterior dimensions include an overall length of 190.5 inches, an overall width (including mirrors) of 84.2 inches, an overall height of 60.4 inches, and a 118-inch wheelbase. By comparison, the Cadillac Optiq is expected to have an overall length of 189.8 inches, an overall width of 75.3 inches, an overall height of 64.6 inches, and a 116.3-inch wheelbase.

Outside, the new crossover coupe is equipped as standard with 20-inch 5 V-spoke black diamond cut alloy wheels, as well as a Panoramic glass roof and a power-operated tailgate with a soft close feature. The styling incorporates several considerations to aerodynamic efficiency, with a low nose profile, retractable door handles, flush glazing with frameless windows, and rear aero blades. The rear glass was also eliminated, with the outward view provided by a rear-mounted camera system.

Inside, the new crossover coupe offers wireless phone charging, an eight-way adjustable driver’s seat, and a six-way adjustable driver’s seat. The infotainment system is powered by Android Auto and includes a 15.4-inch landscape-style infotainment screen, plus Google built-in. Adaptive cruise control and a 360-degree parking camera round it out.

As for the powertrain configurations, customers are offered two variants, including the Long range Single motor and the Long range Dual motor. The Long range Single motor produces 272 horsepower and 253 pound-feet of torque, with a 102 kWh battery and a range-per-charge estimate of 300 miles. Meanwhile, the Long range Dual motor variant, equipped with the Performance Pack, ups the ante with 544 horsepower and 506 pound-feet of torque, sending the Polestar 4 to from 0 to 60 mph in 3.7 seconds, juiced by a 102 kWh battery and offering 270 miles between plugs.

Pricing for the Polestar 4 Long range Single motor starts at $54,900, while pricing for the Polestar 4 Long range Dual motor starts at $62,900. Sales will kick off late in April, while customer deliveries are slated for the fourth quarter of the 2024 calendar year.

  1. The Cadillav Optiq has not begun production, so it is the rival of the Polestar when it arrives.

  2. Polestar isn’t Swedish, it’s Chinese. It’s both Chinese made and owned.

    1. Yep, the Googliness intrusive data collection and country of ownership killed all the great looking EVs from Volvo and Polestar for me. I usually just bypass all articles about them.

      1. You mean like GM selling your driving data to insurance brokers?

    2. Polestar 3 will be also built in the US, the Polestar 4 will have a second line in Belgium.

Polestar is headquartered, and designs the cars in Sweden.

Geely is a parent org, yes, but they just own majority stock, they don’t have much to do with how the brand operates.

  3. No rear window….deal breaker for me. Chinese….deal breaker. Really like our Tesla which is a good vehicle but needs improvements. Looking for a new EV, build quality important. Knobs and switches for HVAC and sound system.

  4. Other than price segment, not sure how this is an Optiq rival?

They seem like very different vehicles to me.

Not sure how people look at the Polestar 3 and see “crossover”.

  5. Now could not they just have kept the car numbering scheme in the order of price and performance instead of tucking 4 between 2 and 3! LOL.

  6. If the Optiq starts at $54,000 then Cadillac will be in huuuuuge trouble.
The Optiq better be priced as close to a Tesla Model Y or it will be DOA

    1. Why should it be priced similar to a car with a cheap interior, noisy, with bad ride quality, squeaks and rattles, and single center display?

      1. @rEVolutionary
Have you actually driver a Model Y recently?
        None of that is accurate.

If some here cannot understand that the upcoming Optiq better be priced close to the Model Y then evidently some still do not realize what Tesla has and is becoming.

        1. I have driven one and he (rEVolutionary) is not wrong. I test drove one at one of their “dealerships” and the only thing it had going for it was its acceleration (but this is something you can get in any EV these days). And the car I was looking at in the showroom had inconsistent panel gaps and imperfections in the paint finish. Tesla did nothing to address these issues. I guess Elon is banking on his customers on continuing to be his good little sheep to not care.
