The third-generation 2025 GMC Terrain is set to debut this year, bringing with it a long list of updates and changes. As expected, that list includes an overhauled interior, with a recent GM Authority exclusive detailing what to expect. Now, our spies have caught the 2025 GMC Terrain interior completely exposed, confirming our initial report.
With the camouflage covers pulled back, we find a look and layout that’s practically identical to that of the all-new 2024 GMC Acadia, with an identical screen layout and control scheme. Drivers will grip a four-pronged steering wheel with thumb-length hard buttons at the 9 o’clock and 3 o’clock positions, while behind the steering wheel, we see an 11-inch Driver Information Center, the same unit equipped by the 2024 Acadia and 2025 Chevy Equinox. Vehicle controls include an EPS selector on the column.
Also notable is the large, vertically oriented, portrait-style infotainment screen in the center stack, which incorporates an integrated volume knob at the bottom of the screen and a series of switches and hard buttons along the lower edge for the vehicle’s HVAC system. This 15-inch screen should also be familiar, previously finding its way into the 2024 Acadia and 2024 GMC Sierra EV. As reported by GM Authority previously, this screen will also make its way into the refreshed 2025 GMC Yukon. We’re also expecting an inductive phone charger that will be located below the center console, plus additional storage below that.
Further features of the 2025 Terrain interior will be shared with the 2025 Chevy Equinox, including all the hard items, such as the door cards, armrests, and the like. In fact, one could argue that the only truly substantial change between the new 2025 GMC Terrain interior and the 2025 Chevy Equinox will be the screen.
As for the mechanical specs, the all-new Terrain will cradle the turbocharged 1.5L I4 LSD gasoline engine, while an updated variant of the GM D2 platform will provide the underpinnings. As GM confirmed during its Q3 2023 earnings call, the 2025 GMC Terrain will debut midway through the 2024 calendar year.

I love that Gmc chose to retain a distinctive interior from Buick and Chevrolet designs!
I hope the next Canyon update gets a similar interior upgrade.
Hi gents,
I have a gmc terrain sle year 2013 having a radio blocked by the system. This radio must be replaced. Where can i have the one that can fit ?
Thanks & Regards
Serge from Gabon, Central Africa.
Looks nice and I like the uniqueness and buttons, but I wish they’d have gone with a more matte color and limited the gloss to the trimming. Between that and the oversized screen I can already see the fingerprints 😬
Who on their team thinks push button transmission at the edge of your arm length is a good thing?
It was a design element employed in multiple CUVs, including the Lincoln Corsair, but the Terrain got rid of it in this update. You can see the right column is the new shifter.
Someone who’s not a caveman Thomas! I mean seriously I would rather have buttons or a stalk then a console shifter. Besides the previous GMC terrain wasn’t that hard to get used with it’s push button transmission.
Caveman or common sense? The funny thing is that not one person I have asked that owns an Acadia or Terrain particularly liked the buttons when I asked them. Apparently it was enough of a deal for GM to redesign and relocate the lever back on the column as it was many years ago well before floor shifters were commonplace. So in your words this new GM setup must be prehistoric?
@ Joe Yoman when I think about it console shifters are a waste of space I would rather have push button or stalk shifter, furtherore bench seats could possibly make an appearance again if that center console space was freed up. And no I ment “caveman” because people these days are so afraid of change in anything…the world changes designs come and go, it’s how old technology can be new again, think about it some of the greatest things invented where considered mistakes at first but people years ago caught on. In the 50s and 60s in this country car technology was always innovative for better or worse at least people tried it out. You can’t compare the old GMC terrain push button to the new one its different give it a chance… unless you like a boring ho hum life.
The old Terrain did not have push buttons what are you talking about? How is liking or disliking stupid distracting buttons scattered low down on the dash going to make my life less boring exactly? Again it must have been controversial enough where GM has moved away from it and has instead brought back a column shifter. If the buttons were so great why change it?
Yes the 2017 through 2024 GMC terrain had a push button transmission GM even made it so you pull up on the buttons to engage a gear so you couldn’t accidently push a a button while driving.
I even have picture of the GMC terrain push button transmission but GM authority won’t let me upload it.
I prefer the “boxier” look of the GEN-1 Terrain. Still needs a 4 cyl 2.0L engine!
It doesn’t need the 2.0, just a small group that won’t buy it wants it.
Well, make it an up-gradable option, because I want that.
I like it a lot but I have a ton of questions.
Engine options? There was a strong rumor that this 2025 model had an optional 2.0l.
Super cruise? I know it’s early and probably unlikely, but the Denali generally offers premium features.
Will the Denali still have the upgraded suspension?
1.5 says right in the article. Not sure where you are hearing “strong rumors”, I have never heard of that and I follow this stuff pretty closely. Probably one fan boy on a Terrain forum.
Not sure it will get much of an upgraded suspension like an active or adaptive with air like its bigger brothers, never has in the past. Probably just a smoother riding tuned shock/spring set up or try and soften the rougher ride from the overly large wheels that is it bound to come with.
Great to see the shifter stalk more available, all vehicles should have this set up to shift a vehicle. Get away from the stupid floor shift…
I distinctly remember this website stating that the new Terrain would have approximately 225ish hp. I even remember commenting on it saying it was not as good as the old 2.0l but it was much better than the current 175hp. Can’t seem to find that article anymore, but I do remember it.
It may have been a misprint or maybe it wasn’t in here. It will have the same powertrain as the 2025 Equinox.
I think I found the article. It was about the 2025 Equinox, and it was reported in July 2023 on this site that it was coming with a 2.0 liter in China. Given that it is the sister car to the Terrain, it was considered likely for the Terrain to have it as well, but that appears to not be the case anymore. Quote below:
“Mechanically, the 2025 Chevy Equinox RS for the Chinese market will come standard with the turbocharged 2.0L LXH I4 engine rated at 169 kW or 227 horsepower, mated exclusively to GM’s nine-speed automatic transmission.”
Article title: “Next-Gen 2025 Chevy Equinox RS Images Leaked In China”
I’m more concerned about the exterior. It’d better lose those absurd rear side windows of the current one.
Like the Equinox it will get the 1.5 Turbo with the CVT for FWD and the 8 speed auto with AWD. With GM annoucing the return of PHEV (plug in Hybrids to NA) expect the PHEV 1.5 Turbo as an option. Its already availabke on the 2025 Equinox in China.
Nice features, but same junk 1.5L engine. My d@mn jetskis have the same size engine! Offer the 2.0L and get some serious “grunt” behind this vehicle.
WIll the Terrain and Equinox ever get Super Cruise? Probably not anytime soon.
And another thing, GM should immediately go back to the capital letter GM logo. It is iconic, and is GM.
Look at GE, no change to their well known and respected logo.
Walt W you mean GE the company that polluted lakes, rivers, and streams for decades with toxic waste…yeah GE is something to be proud of alright NOT! I like the colors in the new GM logo but it should be capital letters.
All new except what’s under the hood. Disappointing.
