General Motors unveiled the 2025 Cadillac Optiq last November, debuting the luxury marque’s all-new, entry-level, all-electric crossover. As expected, the 2025 Optiq is decked out in Caddy’s latest battery-based crossover styling language, following in the footsteps of the Cadillac Lyriq. Now, we’re taking another look at the 2025 Cadillac Optiq, this time dressed in black paint out in the real world.
Captured on a snowy day in Michigan, these new photos give us a up-close-and-personal look at the new Cadillac Optiq in what appears to be production-ready guise. The exterior is draped in dark black paint, likely Stellar Black Metallic (paint code GB8).
The front end brings several familiar design cues, for example, a rounded fascia design flanked on either side by prominent vertical lighting signatures. The vertical lights lead to horizontal design elements that stretch across the width of the nose, leading the eye to a crest-like front “grille.” The front grille is smaller than that of the Cadillac Lyriq, but once again includes familiar illuminated elements, plus a silver Cadillac crest.
Moving to the profile, this Cadillac Optiq rides on a set of multi-spoke wheels with a technical design and silver-and-black two-tone finish. There’s also polished silver trim along the upper daylight openings (or window lines), as well as in the lower flanks. The black paint also helps to mask the belt line, which, in our opinion, is too busy. The design lines behind the C-pillar are also worth a mention, given that they fall in line with Cadillac’s emerging EV CUV design trends.
Finally, the Optiq’s rear end shows a series of vertical lighting elements, including vertical taillights in the sides of the rear fascia, and a vertical center stop lamp mounted between the hatch and the roof spoiler. Interestingly, the Optiq has two spoilers total, the second of which can be found just below the rear glass. The lack of any kind of rear wiper is also noteworthy.
As a reminder, the 2025 Cadillac Optiq rides on the GM BEV3 platform and features GM Ultium batteries and GM Ultium Drive motors. Sales will take place in the U.S., China, Canada, and the Middle East.

When I first saw the image that was released, I thought the back design was weird, but it looks cool with black. Now I’m curious about the interior design… It’ll be similar to Lyriq, right?
You don’t have a vision.
Much more attractive than the lyric, but I still don’t get the stripey windows and the high mounted brake light.
It pulls the design of the taillight into the rear windows, a piano key treatment.
I agree. I was thinking that they should make sure you can see through those c- pillar lines. Also move the vertical stop light to the lower art of the back window and replace it with a optional wiper.
It looks like a very nice vehicle.
This is a good thing we already have experience website, electric vehicle the infrastructure within the store the sales people have the bumps and bruises from the lyric launch. This should be much smoother on the second go round plus the Xt6 needs something to relieve the pressure. I’m excited for the future.
This seems to lack cohesive design and is too busy in my opinion. It’s sad that Genesis has created what feels like a modern take on a Cadillac grille and Cadillac has the hot mess.
I’m not a fan of the “grill”, It looks like a mustache. It should be larger like the Lyriq and EV Escalade
What a thoroughly uninteresting vehicle. Combining the anonymous shape of pretty much any CUV with the generic sterility of an electric motor, this seems the poster child for soulless commodity cars of the future
It seems to me that, between the heavy reliance on crossovers and the push to electrify, there really is nothing in terms of style or features/performance to differentiate Cadillac from Kia. When the shape, performance, features, and interior are equivalent, what makes the vehicle a “Cadillac “? I’m afraid this Optiq likely marks the end of Cadillac as product distinguished from its peers
How old are some of you guys? I ask because I see you guys saying this looks better than the lyric but I vehemently disagree because this looks like most of the boring crossover SUVs on the road today. I read somewhere that millennials are more drawn to the “sporty/aggressive” look while the older demographic tends to favor the more traditional look. I’m gonna assume you guys are older which is why you prefer the optiq but the lyriq looks 10x better imo. And I don’t think the Optiq is ugly, it’s just very boring looking.
Agreed. I was cleaning out my garage and my Lyriq was in the driveway. A couple walked by and said it was a beautiful car.
I have to agree with you on the design part. I did notice it reminds me of the Lexus/Toyota SUVs out now, at least from the side profile.
I am just
After seeing the 2024-2025 Cadillac lineup, I’ve realized that Cadillac is really good at making cars that would pass for a better Buick. I love Cadillac but I think they need to step their game up.
The Optiq looks pretty decent here. Wasn’t too impressed when the first photos in lighter colors were released. But it looks really nice in black.
I will withhold final judgement until I see it in person but I still think that the Faux Grille is way too small.
The “too small grill’ reminds me of the 65-66 Mustang which had similar appearance from the front.
