2024 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali, Denali Ultimate Now Available In Thunderstorm Gray

All told, 11 exterior paint colors are available for the 2024 GMC Sierra 1500, including one brand new hue available on the Denali and Sierra Denali Ultimate trims as of March 2024 production. Below, GM Authority takes a closer look at the new color, which is called Thunderstorm Gray.

Thunderstorm Gray is tagged with paint code GNO and is currently available to order on the 2024 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali and Denali Ultimate as a $495 option. It is available in conjunction with both interior colorways offered on the Denali trim, including Jet Black (RPO code H2X) and Atmosphere / Brownstone (RPO H24). Of course, it can also be paired with the single interior colorway option for the Denali Ultimate, which is Alpine Umber (RPO H40).

Additionally, note that Summit White (paint code GAZ) is no longer available to order on the Denali trim level. Meanwhile, Dynamic Blue Metallic paint (paint code GLT) has been built out for the 2024 model year, along with Deep Bronze Metallic (paint code GXN). It’s not clear if these colors will return for the 2025 model year or if they are gone for good.

As for what motivates the 2024 GMC Sierra 1500, the pickup is offered with four different powerplant options, including the 2.7L I4 L3B gasoline engine, which is now known as TurboMax; the naturally aspirated 5.3L V8 L84 gasoline engine; the naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 L87 gasoline engine; and the 3.0L I6 LZ0 turbodiesel Duramax engine, which is now standard on the 2024 GMC Sierra AT4X.

The 2024 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali, Denali Ultimate, AT4, AT4X, and SLT trim levels are now offered with an active exhaust system for models outfitted with the 6.2L V8 L87. Said active exhaust system implements built-in flaps that deliver a throatier exhaust note when desired. Other updates include new power-retractable assist steps to make ingress and egress a bit easier.

The GM T1 platform provides the underpinnings, and production is handled at the GM Fort Wayne plant in Indiana and the GM Silao plant in Mexico.

  1. It’s difficult to determine from the images, but it looks to be a non-metallic color. IF that is the case, it will have an appearance similar to primer!

    1. I’ve seen it in person. There is metallic in this color. And it is available at no cost on the cheapest Silverado trim level.
