The 2024 Chevy Trax introduces a brand-new generation for the Bow Tie brand’s entry-level crossover, offering a total of five trim levels – LS, 1RS, LT, 2RS, and Activ. The 2RS and Activ sit at the peak of the trim level hierarchy as the two range-toppers of the lineup, per Chevy’s Y-trim level strategy. Both offer their own unique attitude and features, with the 2RS taking a sporty approach, and the Activ geared more for outdoorsy types. Now, GM Authority is taking a closer look at the 2024 Chevy Trax RS and Activ with the following design breakdown video.
Hosted by GM Authority Executive Editor Alex Luft, the video is just over two minutes, 40 seconds in length, and hits all the important exterior design differences between the 2024 Chevy Trax 2RS and 2024 Chevy Trax Activ. Both vehicles featured in the video are finished in matching Nitro Yellow Metallic paint, making the design differences a bit easier to spot.
The video starts up front the fascia, diving right in with the grille. The grille design is a significant departure between the two trims, with the 2RS showing a contrasting central grille bar that extends into the bumper, and the Activ showing a body-colored central grille bar. The grille pattern is different as well, while the 2RS shows an RS badge in the upper corner of the grille.
The wheels and tires are another significant design difference between the 2024 Chevy Trax 2RS and 2024 Chevy Trax Activ. The Activ is equipped with 18-inch Black-painted aluminum wheels wrapped in 225/55 Goodyear all-season tires, whereas the 2RS runs a set of 19-inch Black-painted machined aluminum wheels wrapped in 245/45 Continental all-season tires.
Finally, the rear end shows yet further design differences in the lower fascias, reflectors, and badging.
Additional details are covered in the video, so hit play for the full rundown:
As a reminder, all 2024 Chevy Trax trim levels feature the turbocharged 1.2L I3 LIH gasoline engine as standard, rated at a maximum of 137 horsepower and 162 pound-feet of torque. Output is routed exclusively to the front wheels via the GM six-speed automatic transmission. All-wheel drive is not offered. The 2025 Chevy Trax will offer flex-fuel capabilities.
The GM VSS-F vehicle set provides the underpinnings, while production takes place at the GM Changwon plant in South Korea.

Ho hum. Cheap cars. Pick your poison.
Nothing wrong with entry level vehicles. Some folks can’t afford anything else. Not a bad looking vehicle and I’m sure the fuel mileage will be in the 30 range. Probably won’t have anymore quality issues than the more expensive vehicles out there today.
As an owner of a 2024 Trax LT we couldn’t be happier. Averaging 32+mpg that’s a mix of city & highway driving over 10K total miles. Showed it to a coworker and he liked it so much we went out and bought one. Tech is unbelievable at this point, plenty of power (no worries about it being a three cylinder) and overall a great vehicle. I get it now why sedans are disappearing, this is a great affordable mainstream vehicle that’s simply better than a sedan.
all that new tech, turbo and all… still almost comes close to 1986 chevette fuel economy. So impressed by this garbage.
Considering it’s twice the size of a Chevette and safer, faster and better looking…..also there’s no way a Chevette ever hit 32mpg. Never.
GM should come back out with the Chevette name though that would be cool 😎
The LT trim is the sweet spot in the lineup. If only it had the power seat available…maybe ’26s.
Since 98% of the time the same driver is driving the Trax power seat is not needed for us, and manually adjusting the seat is not a big deal. My guess is that if a consumer wants AWD, power seats, and a few other options they will go get a Trailblazer. Having those items available on a Trax would raise the cost matching the two vehicles in price. They need enough of a price difference to justify both vehicles and this is one way to do it
The Trax and Buick Envista are super nice for the young, first-time buyer or a buyer on a budget. Well equipped and a nice design will bring pride of ownership in the owner. Not everyone is financially able to go into 30 grand cars/CUV’s that are not much a step above what GM is offering here.
Make mine the Activ. The all black rims gives it performance aspirations but maybe more importantly, the black rims help cutdown the overall visual side height of the Trax. When I see this Trax, I think that if a Camaro were to be a CUV, this is what that Camaro would look like. I think GM has a home run hit here. My advice to GM as far as this vehicle is to give the buyer a list of “happy, bright metallics” such as this yellow here………and not cancel said bright colors just 2 or 3 months into the model year.
I like the active just because the front bumper looks so much better the black bumper really makes it looks sporty. The RS front bumper looks like it’s to nerdy for me like “I have to have painted bumpers no ugly black plastic wa wa wa”. I would go for a fully loaded Active then I would enjoy the awesome fuel mileage and price I would be smiling all day long! 😆👍
I bought the Activ because I disliked the big chrome “X” in the grille on the other models. I’m currently getting between 30 and 34 mpg. I love it. Rides nice, handles well for what it is, the engine is quite peppy and sounds gnarly when you get on it, the interior is quiet and I can bring home a Home Depot run when I need to. For the $26K I paid, it’s a great little car.
The Active trim looks the cheapest with all the cheap black everywhere. If anything the wheels should have machined finish edges and the all black should be optional. The LT actually looks more upscale
I so wanted to love this car but the seats are crap. Too short cushions for long legs. They feel like 3/4 size.
My wife and I are typical 71 year olders. We think it is crazy to spend $30-$40-$50 for a vehicle that will be worth than less than half that much in 3 years. I bought our Trax for specific reasons. #1 I did NOT was a continously varible transmission and this is one of the only small vehicle on the market with a conventional ‘geared’ transmission. Despite what the marketing world tell you, “new” does NOT mean better and usually means inadequately tested. I also bought it because of price. The United Auto Workers and their uncivil leader finally met a good match in the greed of bonus-seeking by Barra and Bily Ford and that Howdy-Dowdy clown Farley. I worked on the assembly line at Chevrolet for 5 years and it was one of the easiest jobs I ever had. Absenteeism is a big joke to Fain and the CEOS and that is one reason that American made vehicle are garbage in quality from one end to the other be it paint adhesion or transmission life. Not to mention that the engineers are moved so often that that never get good at desigining much of anything. Meanwhile, my Korean built Trax is doing just fine. The ride quality is exceptional and the interior sound level is tolerable for a 1RS vehicle that I took ‘out-the-door’ for less than $25k. With the exception of the Trax, I recommend you buy Korean or Japan. The people in those countries are ‘not eaten up with the boo-hoo for me because of whatever my sexual identity is, or what I am owed because of some injustice done to some past relative who I never know and am just too damned lazy to get off my ass and want to bilk on paying the student loan debt that I promised I would pay to all the ‘little people’ who never got all the freebies. Instead, keep from getting high on drugs, or low on anti-depressants, and realize there is a reason that ‘work’ is called, ‘work’ and have some self respect and keep your nice Trax regularly maintanced.
Glad that buried deep in that rant there was something about you buying a Trax…..
😉
My teen’s Chevy Trax pretty much has everything that my Honda CRV has. Lane assist, backup camera, remote start, it notifies him if he’s getting to close to the vehicle in front with a yellow indicator and red windshield alert for him to break. It’s nicer than one might think.
