The 2024 Chevy Silverado EV is set to launch very soon, with dealers now taking orders for the 2024 Chevy Silverado EV RST First Edition, as GM Authority exclusively covered earlier this month. However, besides the well-appointed RST First Edition, the all-electric Silverado will also be available in more economical configurations, such as the Chevy Silverado EV 3WT. Now, GM Authority has learned that the Silverado EV 3WT will offer a new fleet-oriented upgrade and rather lofty towing capacities.
The new fleet upgrade for the Chevy Silverado EV 3WT is called the 1FL Fleet Package and is tagged with RPO code V7X. The package adds a set of 18-inch wheels (RPO code RTF) while removing several other features, specifically (relevant RPO codes listed in parentheses):
- Assist steps (RPO code BVE)
- A dual-level charge cord (PSC)
- 18-inch high gloss Black painted aluminum wheels (RIP)
- Soft roll-up tonneau cover (VPB)
Note that the soft roll-up tonneau cover is an LPO-level option, which means it is installed by the dealer rather than at the factory where the truck is initially produced.
What’s more, the Chevy Silverado EV 3WT also boasts a max towing capacity of 12,500 pounds (5,670 kg), both with and without the 1FL Fleet package, while the max payload capacity is rated at 1,750 pounds (794 kg). Critically, GM has yet to launch a new Silverado EV WT variant capable of towing up to 20,000 pounds, as announced in June 2023. Per the previous announcement, GM is expected to release a fleet-only max trailering package that elevates the all-electric pickup to the 20,000-pound towing capacity figure. Per a GM Authority exclusive, the Max Towing Package will also feature four-wheel steering.
As a reminder, the Chevy Silverado EV 3WT and 3WT-1FL are equipped with a two-motor GM Ultium Drive powertrain juiced by a 20-module GM Ultium battery pack. Output is set at 510 horsepower and 600 pound-feet of torque, with an estimated driving range of 393 miles on a full charge.
Pricing starts at $74,900 for the 3WT (including the $1,995 destination freight charge), while the 4WT begins at $79,900. The GM BT1 platform provides the underpinnings.

The truck has decent charging speeds and decent range in both towing and regular use. However, the pricing is not reasonable.
I can get a GMC single cab worktruck with a turbo max engine for under $45K.
That is a good price. These electrics have strikes against them.

Ya and do you think it will actually go 450 miles under any sort of work related stress. Fill the box with concrete bags and tow a trailer of lumber and see. That’s a $100,000 Canadian starting price for a 4WT. They got the code close, just left the F off the end of 4WT.
In what world can you load any 1/2-ton gas truck with bags of cement and haul a trailer filled and get any kind of gas milage out of them. Let alone not have it dragging its A__ end all of the way. You people need to compare apples to apples as neither is built for that task! You want in 20 years what it took ICE manufactures 125 years to accomplish.
While it takes me 7-10 minutes to fuel my diesel truck, you’re decoupling your trailer to pull into the charge station while I’m gone to the job site where my crew is making $40/hr. See the difference. Goes way beyond payload and fuel economy, try actual out of pocket expenses…..and big ones at that. And in the winter months it will be more hilarious.
Makes you wonder if the max tow package will feature dually wheels.
So these truck bring out the haters, but I love them as a former EV-1 driver. They can go about 400-450 miles in ideal, non towing conditions with the energy equivalent of 5-6 gallons of gas is awesome. When my Diesels get down to the last 5 gallon of fuel, I refil them, but these trucks are 4 1/2 times more efficient.
I like that.
It’s a never ending uphill battle against the closed “haters” mindsets.
EVs handily meet the needs and desires for some, but others cannot understand or are unwilling to accept that, any more than their mindset of a 4 cylinder turbo engine in a truck is acceptable.
The L3B in my ’23 is awesome, lots of torque at low RPM and great fuel economy. As a tech, it was hard letting go of my V8 mindset, but never again!
Working with EVs is also nice clean work.
FWIW, I doubt that the EV truck pricing will even be an issue for companies writing off expenses, that previously purchased or leased more expensive diesel-powered trucks, but often didn’t really need the extreme capabilities for the average job site.
There’s a major housing construction job site a few blocks away from my home and a long string of about 15-20 work trucks parked on the street, most having small loads of tools or equipment. Most heavy job site materials are supplier delivered directly to the site on medium duty or 1 ton flat decks. None of the parked trucks appear to be earning their keep given their capabilities and several are HD diesels in the $110-$120K CAD range.
Too bad they don’t come out with a cost reduced 2WD version like they have for the gasoline trucks .
Many people and firms will shy away from the $66,000 price tag.

EVs are not 4x4s they would be all wheel drive! At least try to learn about a subject so you know what you and most everyone else is talking about. I don’t mean it as an insult but there are a lot of people making statements about EVs and they haven’t even tried to learn about them. They just regurgitating what someone else has said. Most of which is wrong.
