Among a handful of updates and changes to the 2024 Chevy Malibu, the sedan drops three paint colors and adds one new paint color to its palette, Lakeshore Blue Metallic, a hue we’re taking a detailed look at here.
Assigned RPO code GXP and touch-up paint code WA-136H, Lakeshore Blue Metallic is one of 6 exterior paint colors offered on the sole remaining Bow Tie sedan model, which include:
- Mineral Gray Metallic
- Mosaic Black Metallic
- Radiant Red Tintcoat
- Sterling Gray Metallic
- Summit White
- Lakeshore Blue Metallic (new for 2024)
Lakeshore Blue Metallic is offered at no extra charge on all trim levels of the 2024 Chevy Malibu, including the 1LS, RS, 1LT, and 2LT trims. It can be combined with all three of the interior colorways offered on the sedan.
For reference, here is the trio of interior colorways available on the 2024 model-year Malibu, which include:
- Dark Atmosphere with Light Wheat
- Dark Atmosphere with Medium Ash Gray
- Jet Black
As a reminder, pricing for the 2024 Chevy Malibu starts at $25,795 for the base 1LS trim and ranges up to $32,595 for the range-topping 2LT, as GM Authority uncovered previously. The model year carries the significant changes introduced by the 2023 Chevy Malibu forward. These include the Premier trim level of the Malibu being discontinued and the deletion of the turbocharged 2.0L I4 LTG gasoline engine and GM nine-speed automatic transmission that resulted.
Motivation is now provided by a single remaining engine choice, specifically the turbocharged 1.5L I4 LFV gasoline engine rated at a maximum of 163 horsepower at 5,700 rpm and 184 pound-feet of torque. Power reaches the wheels via a continuously variable automatic transmission, with front-wheel drive as the only available drivetrain.
Although we initially expected an all-new generation of the Malibu for 2025, it’s now clear that it won’t appear before the 2026 model year at the earliest. With only minor changes expected, production of the 2025 model-year Malibu is currently scheduled to start on May 31st, 2024, and take place at the GM Fairfax plant in Kansas.

I like it.
That color also looks good on a full-sized Silverado with plenty of shiny trim and wheels.
At least they picked a great color to add as the only new offering
It was a mistake to discontinue the Malibu Premier .
Agreed. It was also a mistake to discontinue the Malibu hybrid.
Rental companies will grab this new color. LOL.
Anxiously awaiting first glimpse of the next generation Malibu.

How about a bigger motor? I would buy one then. It’s time to put my impala to pasture.
