Introduced for the 2024 model year, Riptide Blue Metallic was one of two new exterior paint colors available to be ordered on the 2024 Chevy Equinox. Now, after just a single model year, the paint color is no longer offered.
GM Authority has learned that the Riptide Blue Metallic (color code GJV) exterior paint color is no longer available to be ordered on the 2024 Equinox. Notably, the shade is currently scheduled to be built out following the week of April 22nd, 2024.
It’s worth noting that this hue won’t return for the 2025 model year, as it’s being replaced by the Reef Metallic exterior paint color. That being said, the all-new 2025 Equinox will be offered with an impressive 21 different paint combinations, thanks to newly available black or white contrasting roof options.
As a reminder, the current 2024 Chevy Equinox is equipped with the new-for-2023 turbocharged 1.5L I4 LSD gasoline engine, rated at 175 horsepower and 203 pound-feet of torque, across the entire model lineup. Of course, this powerplant supplanted the turbocharged 1.5L I4 LYX gasoline engine, which was rated at a similar 170 horsepower and 203 pound-feet of torque, after the 2022 model year.
The GM six-speed automatic transmission is found in every 2024 Equinox unit, and directs output to either the front wheels as standard affair or all four wheels for an extra $1,600.
Under the skin, the Bow Tie crossover rides on the GM D2 platform, which it shares with the GMC Terrain and Buick Envision. Production of the 2024 model year officially kicked off in May 2023, taking place at the GM Ramos Arizpe plant and GM San Luis Potosà plant, both of which are located in Mexico. Moving forward, the next-gen 2025 Equinox will commence production in May 2024 and should be built exclusively at San Luis Potosà facility, as the Ramos Arizpe plant will transition towards all-electric vehicle production by way of the Chevy Blazer EV, Chevy Equinox EV, and Honda Prologue.

Good riddance. It’s hideous on an SUV. But looked great on a Camaro.
Beachy29579 I never go by these pictures because they don’t show the true color it looks much better and darker on the Blazer but it’s the same color…it doesn’t make sense. Anyway I wish they would bring back jade or forest green.
I saw the Riptide Blue along with the Nitro Yellow and Cactus Green at the dealership a few days ago and wondered if Stevie Wonder is picking out these colors. So far black is the best I’m seeing. 😕
The Nitro yellow and the cactus green are awful colors, while Riptide is a nice color.
If they are coming up with another bright color, then I’m OK with this, but please GM don’t replace this with a dull gray.
But? Is it still available on the GMC Terrain since GMC charges extra for colors?
