Watch This Second-Gen Chevy Camaro Ice Racing On Studded Dual Tires: Video

For a lot of folks out there, the “fun” car goes into the garage during the winter months, simply taking up space while the temperatures are low and the roads are icy. However, this second-gen Chevy Camaro owner has a different strategy in mind – throw on no less than eight studded ice tires and hang the tail out in a fine, white cloud of snow. Now, we’re watching as this Chevy Camaro does exactly that in the following video.

Recently posted by the PPekka YouTube channel, it should come as no surprise that this specially modified Chevy Camaro was built in Finland, a country well-versed when it comes to having fun in the snow. In the video, we see the Chevy Camaro easily slide across a frozen Finnish lake, the air cleaner sticking out from a hole in the hood.

Later in the video, we see the owner adding further modifications to the bumper, sawing bits of it off before heading back out on track. The second round shows the Chevy Camaro pass several other vehicles, including a Volvo, a Subaru, a Tesla, a BMW, and a few others.

Clearly, the driver knows what they’re doing, dialing in the countersteer while keeping the throttle inputs nice and steady. It looks like a blast, and the driver even takes a passenger along for the ride.

According to the owner, the car was acquired more than 10 years ago in exchange for a motocross bike. Initially little more than a chassis, the Camaro was later fitted with a Gen 6 454 plucked from the engine bay of 1991 Chevy Suburban. The suspension was modified as well, with the upper control arms relocated for more caster and camber, while new Wilwood brakes help to slow it all down. A Tremec six-speed provides the cog swaps. Perhaps the most noteworthy feature are the custom dually wheels, made in-house with a welder.
