These 2024 Chevy Silverado 1500 22-Inch Wheels Are Available To Order Again

As reported by GM Authority back in September 2023, the 2024 Chevy Silverado 1500 was not able to be ordered with a certain 22-inch wheel option. Now, this feature – along with another 22-inch roller – is available to be optioned once again on the Silverado 1500.

The LPO, 22-inch Bright Chrome multi-spoke wheels (RPO code SSW) and LPO, 22-inch Bright Chrome split-spoke wheels (RPO code SSI) are back on the options list for the 2024 Silverado 1500. As before, these two 22-inch rollers are available as an option on the LT, LTZ, and High Country trim levels for an extra $3,695 each.

It’s worth noting that LPO refers to options and features that are installed at dealerships. The trucks are shipped with steel transit wheels, which are then sent back to the factory by the dealer after it installed the optional set of wheels.

As a reminder, the 2024 Chevy Silverado 1500 was highlighted by a few notable updates for the new model year, including the introduction of the 3.0L I6 LZ0 turbodiesel Duramax engine to off-road-focused Silverado ZR2 variant, the turbocharged 2.7L I4 L3B gasoline engine adopting the TurboMax name, and the new Midnight Edition Package.

Notably, the Midnight Edition Package is only offered on Custom Trail Boss, LT Trail Boss, and High Country trims.

In regard to powertrain specifications, engine choices include the previously mentioned turbocharged 2.7L I4 L3B gasoline engine, rated at 310 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque, the naturally aspirated 5.3L V8 L84 gasoline engine, rated at 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque, the naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 L87 gasoline engine, rated at 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque, and the aforementioned 3.0L I6 LZ0 turbodiesel Duramax engine, rated at 305 horsepower and 495 pound-feet of torque.

Under the skin, the Chevy Silverado rides on the GM T1 platform, while production of the 2024 Silverado 1500 kicked off in July 2023 at the GM Fort Wayne plant in Indiana, the GM Oshawa plant in Canada, and the GM Silao plant in Mexico.

  1. So that is what is holding up the order on my 2024 High Country

    Reply
    1. No. Your problem is GM doesn’t have a sold order process and your dealer is just hoping everything will align one week and your order gets processed. Instead of building your sold order, GM will build the same truck for stock for some other dealer. It makes no sense. Essentially, they are picking the winners and losers.

      1. Probably correct and I work for a dealer

  2. Why? Terrible ride, very expensive, subject to road damage, and not very heavy duty.

    1. Agreed. Less rubber between the rim and the road, worse ride. Plus, finding a good variety of tires in 22” is difficult.

  3. 22″ and larger wheels on a pickup or passenger car are great – – until you have to drive it

  4. Angular Momentum … basic physics
It might seem counter-intuitive but the more the mass is concentrated to the circumference of a wheel the SLOWER it “wants to turn” and the more energy required to turn it. So larger wheels and their low profile tires will get lower mpg than a standard wheel higher profile tire of the same combined radius/circumference.

  7. I drive on 20” wheels, and it’s a good ride, but 22’s ride a lot rougher.

    1. With the 20” wheels you likely have 60 series tires if you retained the OEM sizing. A good overall comprise on the amount of sidewall and appearance. A wise choice for most people.

  8. @ Gene. I work for one as well. 25 years in GM dealerships and the last 3 have been the biggest cluster I’ve ever seen. It’s amazing! No one, in the corporate end, cares about anything. Trax ordered almost a year and they’re out on the ocean somewhere and no idea when they will arrive. Sold orders in the system for over a year and they haven’t been picked up? No clue as to when they will be picked up. Who runs a corporation like that???

  9. I ordered a new one last week but with the
3.0 durmax high country. What I wanted was a single cab with the bells and whistles. But GM makes us go for the 4door. I would of even taken extended cab if I could of bought one.
