Originally designed as a replacement for the Chevy Cavalier, the Chevy Cobalt was introduced to the North American market with the 2005 model year and lasted through the 2010 model year, the first year to even feature standard air conditioning.
However, the Chevy Cobalt is still alive and well in Uzbekistan as a subcompact sedan model produced in front-wheel drive configuration only and offered in two trim levels.
The Uzbek Chevy Cobalt carries a base price of 124,624,000 soums, or approximately USD$13,375 at current exchange rates. Seven paint colors are offered, with some color names familiar to GM customers – such as Summit White – and others less so, including “Son of a Gun Gray” and “Zeus,” the latter being a medium tan color.
Highlighted features of the Chevy Cobalt include elements that are often considered very ordinary in other markets, including fog lamps, tinted rear windows, and air conditioning. The base trim level is equipped with a manual transmission, while an automatic transmission is listed as one of the major standout features of the premium trim.
Chevrolet Uzbekistan boasts that “thanks to the front and rear power windows, any window can be opened and closed in seconds with just the push of a button.”
UzAuto Motors, formerly GM Uzbekistan, continues to produce a number of nameplates that have vanished from most other markets and is increasing local production. In addition to the Chevy Cobalt, the sedan version of the Chevy Lacetti is also thriving in the market, while the Chevy Damas and Chevy Labo vans are also in current production there. The Central Asian country also hosted Ravon, another GM brand, for some time.
In the western hemisphere, the Chevy Cobalt held out longest in Brazil, with production only ceasing in the last quarter of 2019 and sales continuing into 2020 until existing dealer inventories were exhausted. The car was sold for a single generation in Brazil, beginning with the 2012 model year launched late in calendar 2011.

This is misleading. It has nothing to do with the US Cobalt and is really a slightly remade Aveo-Sonic. And dreadful.
I agree with Beachy, only shares the nameplate. Definitely a slightly remade Aveo/Sonic. Dreadful to some though would be dismissed over price here in states. These would sell like hotcakes here with a MSRP under 15K. Too bad that will never happen.
Would never pass NHSTB or EPA at that price- missing things like pre-crash seatbelt tensioners, laminated glass,, abs, traction control, TPMS, high strength structural steel reinforcing panels
So I assume you don’t agree with Hyundai and the new Santa Fe being called the Santa Fe
Uzbek sum exchange rate is 12450, so the price in USD is much lower approx.10000 dollars.
The days of having a domestic branded Econo/commuter car that’s simple and reliable as a refrigerator are long gone and only a distant memory. We’ll never have a vehicle like this in north America ever again.
They’re unwilling to lose money on them now that they’re losing money on EVs instead
We need the Cobalt back in the USA, simple , cheap, reliable, fuel efficient.
