Someone Crashed A C7 Corvette Z06 Into A Central California Canal

Adding a massive rear wing to the back of your sports car can potentially add rear grip at speed. However, what it does not add is driving talent behind the wheel. That much is made clear by a wrecked C7 Corvette Z06 that was recently pulled from a canal in Central California.

A C7 Corvette Z06 pulled from a canal in California.

According to a recent report from local FOX News affiliate KMPH, a tow truck pulled the waterlogged C7 Corvette Z06 from a canal in the town of Palier this week after the driver allegedly took a turn too quickly and slid off the road. The canal is located near S. Newmark Avenue, near E American Avenue.

Luckily, no one was reported injured in the accident, as both occupants were wearing seatbelts at the time. CHP issued a reminder that driving above the speed limit provides less time to react to hazards in the road – such as a sharp curve.

Photos from the scene show a red C7 Corvette Z06 with large aftermarket wheels partially submerged in the California canal. It appears as though the driver lost control around a curve then went flying down an embankment before making splashdown. The extent of the damage is unclear, but, judging by the photos, it certainly looks like this whole situation could have ended much worse than it did.

Also notable is the large ZR1-style wing in back. While aero upgrades are a good option for attacking a race track, they are not recommended for jumping a canal.

As a reminder, the C7-generation Chevy Corvette Z06 is equipped with the (front-mounted) supercharged 6.2L V8 LT4 gasoline engine, rated at a maximum of 650 horsepower at 6,400 rpm and 650 pound-feet of torque at 3,600 rpm, all of which is directed exclusively to the rear wheels. Production took place at the GM Bowling Green plant in Kentucky.

Simply stolen by a disgusting miscreant.

Take your pick, or combine all three. 🙁

    1. I get what you’re saying, but people were wrecking the $hit out of ~200 horsepower Corvettes, Camaros, and Trans Ams in similar fashion during the 70s and 80s. I’m not buying the need for special driving schools for fast cars.

  9. Right away people assume the driver should not own a car like this ..Before casting judgement, does anyone know exactly what happened ? Most people who actually buy these cars do know how to operate them ..

When someone sees a high performance car in a crash they automatically assume he’s some rich kid with more money then brains …Let’s curb the comments until we find out the real story ..

    1. You really think the driver is going to give the real story? 😂 This story, as written, says “allegedly” took a curve too fast as reported by local fox tv station. You go ahead and search for the official police report and post a link to it here … so we can all see the “real” story. Oh, maybe it should be the real “story” instead.
