Several NASCAR Chevy teams showed promise in practice and even during the race in the rescheduled 2024 Busch Light Clash, but it was the all-Toyota show at the end of the day, despite a valiant charge from Kyle Busch in the No. 8 Camaro ZL1 as the laps ticked down. Initially, the Clash was scheduled for Sunday, but inclement weather and flood warnings prompted the sanctioning body to run the exhibition race on Saturday, February 3rd, 2024 instead.
When a late-race incident forced the event into Overtime, Busch started behind Denny Hamlin, driver of the No. 11 Toyota TRD Camry in the inside lane. However, Hamlin got the jump on the restart, pulling ahead by nearly two car-lengths and ultimately crossing the finish line ahead of second-place Busch.
“I felt like the first half, I had a better car, better than the 11, but some of the adjustments we made weren’t as good, some of the adjustments they made were better,” Busch said after the race. “All in all, just glad to have a good night. Glad to come out of here in one piece with all the bumping and banging and everything else that happens.”
Ryan Blaney, driver of the No. 12 Ford Mustang and last year’s Cup Series champion, finished third after starting at the rear of the field, followed by Joey Logano, driver of the No. 22 Mustang in fourth. Kyle Larson’s No. 5 NASCAR Chevy finished fifth, and Alex Bowman rallied the No. 48 Camaro to a sixth-place result.
Meanwhile, Ross Chastain, driver of the No. 1 Camaro, got into a tiff with the No. 45 Camry of Tyler Reddick after the checkered flag, as the two drivers slammed into each other several times before Chastain chased Reddick into the wall on the cooldown lap.
As a reminder, the Clash does not pay any points toward the Cup Series championship.

Suddenly this story made me think:
What will become of NASCAR, Indy, Daytona. et. al. once the world stops making ICE vehicles and is 100% EV?
Do they switch race rules to allow for longer recharging pit stop breaks? If so, for everyone all at once?
bet we will never see 100% EV
Hybrid, more likely
They will probably swap battery packs out I imagine??
all of the toyotas are cheated up so they win and they have np business in nascrap they are not and American company they are japanese owned remember Pearl Harbor
I agree 1000% Jim. You captured my thoughts exactly. NASCAR sure did a nice job of building a FAKE race car for Toyota.( I wonder how much $$$ Toyota paid them ) As a matter of fact I called them about and all they could say is that rules change as time goes on, but the fact remains that Toyota does not have a push rod V8 which is supposed to be required, but NASCAR let them build a special engine that is not available in any stock vehicles. Besides the the fact the Camry is a 4 door taxi cab and not a 2 door racing vehicle. I guess money talks and the real race cars get shafted. Like you said remember Pearl Harbor. Thanks again for your comments, it’s so nice to find someone else who feels the way I do along with all my former NASCAR Fans.
All I can say is that it is just a “DUMB ” place to have a race. Terrible!!! Get back to Daytona and do it in a hurry!
If pigs could fly then bacon would be considered poultry
A little embarrassing to have a Japanese car beat our American car.
I am eighty years old and still won’t buy a foreign car.
Nascar will never be the same again. To much political crap involved nowadays. It’s more about the dollar not about the sport of racing. Race on Sunday and buy on Monday days are long gone. NASCAR has been on a downhill slide since we lost all the grass roots old schoolers in my opinion. Not the same and never will be!
K go to your local short track then, thats still like the “old days”
I do but, “Thanks for your suggestion anyway “
What’s with the quotes lol
Old fat fingers. Lol
What happened to the EV reveal?
How the hell did you make this political? That’s a bit of a stretch
