Several publications have recently posted “confirmation” that GM is set to debut a new extended-variant of the all-electric Cadillac Escalade IQ called the Cadillac Escalade IQL. Perhaps those publications didn’t get the memo, but GM Authority has been talking about the upcoming Escalade IQL for more than two years now.
Back in 2021, GM Authority published a report on a GM trademark filing to secure the Escalade IQL name. As we covered at the time, the IQ part of the name gives a nod to the luxury marque’s all-electric vehicle lineup, similar to the Lyriq and Celestiq, while the L refers to a longer body style variant.
Essentially, the IQL slots in as the longer body style variant for the Escalade in much the same way that the ICE-powered Escalade ESV is the longer body style variant for the ICE-powered Escalade SUV.
Moving ahead to November of the 2022 calendar year, GM confirmed that it would finally offer a fully-electric large SUV was indeed on the way. During a 2022 GM Investor Day presentation, GM President Mark Reuss stated that “the wheelbase differences we have today and the size base difference we have today on our full-size SUVs, we’re going to do it again in a much more innovative way though. You’re going to see things here, design, size, platform sharing-wise, but also technology-wise, that will be very different from what we execute today.”
Fast forward to August of 2023, and GM Authority rendered what we think the upcoming IQL might look like.
Finally, late last year, GM Authority reported what we expect from Cadillac during the 2024 calendar year. Among the list of products we expect to drop are the new IQL, which may debut around the Spring 2024 timeframe.
So then, if you’re looking for the latest on the new Cadillac Escalade IQL, as well as insights into all things General Motors, remember to subscribe to GM Authority for more Cadillac Escalade IQ news, Cadillac news, GM electric vehicle news, GM business news, and around-the-clock GM news coverage.

Seriously. Outside of a small niche, who is going to buy this? Im sure this is another one of those “cost 200K to build but sells (or doesnt) for 120K.” And if you only build 1,000, then you can minimize your losses.
People with money who want a luxury EV. The world is bigger than you and what you like. You guys complain about EVs everytime they get posted. Stop being snowflakes. Don’t like? Don’t buy.
@Dave Brady
Exactly. Very well said.
It is getting so tiresome to come here as a GM fan and all you get is PooPoo about EV’s.
It is the Future and nobody knows exactly when it will be 100% EV’s only.
If you do NOT like EV’s figure out how to remain with an ICE vehicle for as long as you are driving in your lifetime. Not that hard to do most likely. Might one day have to always purchase Pre-Owned but you will be able to get ICE.
If you are a True GM fan hence you being on this website, you want GM to become the best at everything NOT just what you like.
I have no issues at all with someone disliking EV’s and making comments strictly about what GM can do on a specific EV model to make it better. That is what we enthusiasts have always done.
As a GM fan I want them to dominate and as of right now they are doing the complete opposite.
Thank you for saying what so many of us are thinking.
I think it has more to do with GM’s dismal track record of trying to sell super luxury vehicles, be it ICE or EV.
EV’s are the new Sony “Betamax”.
Wonder if GM would have the guts to offer a two row version. Make the rear like Airplane Business class with refrigeration and a HUGE Television screen. Private partisan glass from the Driver.
Why have a Rolls Royce at that point.
Real “guts” would be offering it with a V8….
@Arnold
They already do.
Go to your local dealership and get yourself a nice V8 Escalade.
I like the styling of this a lot more than the current Escalade. Hopefully they’ll offer it in hybrid versions
“This vehicle pays ???? in annual road taxes.”
Most every state charges EV owners an annual fee to cover the gas tax deficit with an average of at least $200.
Another useless EV from GM that you can’t fit in an average garage. Good luck charging this at home and in the winter.
Another Ev !!! Sorry to say my X employer can’t get the Chevy EV’s to market.
The regular version is already 3” longer than the Expedition max. This thing will be a monster!
