Since the fourth quarter of 2022, the average transaction price of the GMC Sierra – which includes the both Sierra 1500 and Sierra HD – has steadily risen with each fiscal quarter. Now, Sierra ATP figures have risen once again for Q4 2023, albeit just slightly.
According to a report from Cox Automotive, the GMC Sierra saw a 0.5 percent increase in average transaction prices to $71,629. Meanwhile, sales of the truck popped nearly 10 percent to 79,510 units in Q4 2023, making it the only GMC product to post a rise in sales figures. Of course, this minuscule rise in average transaction prices could be due to the Sierra’s annual price increases.
It’s worth noting that sales of Big Red fell 6.5 percent to 134,296 units in Q4 2023, while overall General Motors sales stood at a 0.2 percent gain to 619,684 units.
As a reminder, the GMC Sierra 1500 features a plethora of powerplant choices, including the turbocharged 2.7L I4 L3B gasoline TurboMax engine, rated at 310 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque, the naturally aspirated 5.3L V8 L84 gasoline engine, rated at 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque, the naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 L87 gasoline engine, rated at 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque, and the 3.0L I6 LZ0 turbodiesel Duramax engine, rated at 305 horsepower and 495 pound-feet of torque.
Meanwhile, the GMC Sierra HD features two powerplant options, including the standard naturally aspirated 6.6L V8 L8T gasoline engine, rated at 401 horsepower and 464 pound-feet of torque, and the optional 6.6L V8 L5P turbodiesel Duramax engine, rated at 470 horsepower and 975 pound-feet of torque for the 2024 model year.
In regard to structure, the Sierra 1500 and Sierra HD ride on separate variants of the GM T1 platform. Production of the light-duty pickup takes place at the GM Fort Wayne plant in Indiana and GM Silao plant in Mexico, while the heavy-duty truck is assembled at the GM Flint plant in Michigan.
