Corvette E-Ray Flaunts All-Wheel Drivetrain During F.A.T. Ice Race Event: Video

The 2024 Corvette E-Ray got its big debut last year as the very first all-wheel-drive production vehicle to wear the iconic crossed flags badge, offering up impressive performance thanks to an advanced hybrid power system. With all four wheels available for motive power, the Corvette E-Ray can conquer a variety of conditions. Apparently, that includes a snowy racetrack, as seen in the following brief video.

Recently posted to the official Corvette social media feeds, the video was captured at the inaugural North American F.A.T. Ice Race in Aspen. The event features several top drivers from a variety of different disciplines, including Le Mans-winner Stephane Ortelli, 17-year-old Jade Avedisian, Porsche team driver Patrick Long, Formula Drift winner Ryan Tuerck, and Pikes Peak Hill Climb-winner Jeff Zwart, among others.

In addition to the top racing talent, the event also includes a 1,809-foot race track that’s carved into the Colorado snow. The venue provides a fantastic opportunity for the Corvette E-Ray to flaunt its all-wheel prowess.

In the video, we see the Corvette E-Ray slithering around the F.A.T. Ice Race track, all four wheels scrambling for grip as the mid-engine sports car kicks the tail out in a cloud of loose snow.

For those folks who may be unaware, the 2024 Corvette E-Ray cradles the same naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 LT2 gasoline engine that propels the C8 Corvette Stingray, rated at 495 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque. However, the E-Ray also equips a unique hybrid powertrain, with an electric motor up front to drive the front wheels with an additional 160 horsepower and 125 pound-feet of torque, making for the first all-wheel-drive, hybrid-powered production Vette ever made.

Properly motivated (on asphalt), the Corvette E-Ray will sprint from 0 to 60 mph in 2.5 seconds and blaze through the quarter mile in 10.5 seconds. All C8 Corvette variants ride on the GM Y2 platform, with production taking place at the GM Bowling Green plant in Kentucky.
