Cold Air Inductions, an aftermarket company operating out of Memphis, Michigan, has released a new air intake system for select model years of Chevy Silverado HD and GMC Sierra HD units equipped with the Duramax powerplant.
Compatible with 2017 to 2019 model-year heavy-duty pickups optioned with the 6.6L V8 L5P turbodiesel engine, this new kit helps to reduce air restrictions and increase engine power and efficiency. Made in the United States, the intake system features an all-metal construction, along with an insulated air box and thermally coated intake tube. This ensures that the intake will not become heat soaked, which would rob any additional gains made.
“Our latest cold air intake kit is our first offering for the 6.6L Duramax,” Cold Air Inductions Founder and CEO James Newsome was quoted as stating. “We’ve made high-performing cold air intake kits for most of the GM line-up since our company launched, and we’re well known in the Chevy and GMC truck space. This new Duramax kit is our second diesel offering – we’ve also made a kit for the 2.8L Duramax for several years now.”
It’s worth noting that Cold Air Inductions claims that this air intake system will boost wheel horsepower and torque, improve throttle response, and give the turbodiesel engine a pleasing sound.
“This new Duramax air intake kit marks a milestone for our company,” Newsome continued. “We’ve always been known for our high-performing gas engine air intakes. Once word gets out about the power of this new Duramax kit, I’m sure the Duramax community is going to know the ‘Cold Air Inductions’ name too.”
Cold Air Inductions claims that this system is built to OEM standards, and is backed by a Lifetime Warranty. For anyone interested in checking out this kit for their HD truck, be sure to Cold Air Inductions’ website.

And I’m pretty sure it reduces mpg’s.
My 2012 Silverado came from the factory with cold air induction, the air filter box pulls from outside the engine compartment under the fender. This is even better than what’s advertised here. This system still pulls air from the engine compartment which is very hot especially at low speeds.
OEM standards aren’t what they used to be, so that isn’t saying much. This coming from a 2024 Sierra 3500HD PRO owner.
