About Chevrolet Silverado 1500

For 2024, the Chevy Silverado 2.7L engine is called TurboMax. That engine now gets the Hydra-Matic 8L80 M5U revised eight-speed automatic transmission.

Also, the 2024 Silverado ZR2 offers the LZ0 Duramax diesel engine to provide more low-end torque while off-roading, joining the naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 L87 gasoline engine for available powerplants. That 6.2 liter will sound meaner thanks to a new Active Exhaust system. Additionally, the 2024 Silverado ZR2 is available with new beadlock-capable wheels along with new black and red beadlock wheel decorative rings.

Meanwhile, the 2024 Silverado High Country will be available with the Midnight Edition Package, and all trims of the 2024 Silverado 1500 offer a new drop-in bedliner and a new bed Utility Wall Package.

Here’s everything that’s new and different with the 2024 Chevy Silverado 1500.

Pricing details for the 2024 Chevy Silverado 1500 show that, compared to the previous model year, WT trims are now $500 more expensive, High Country trims are now $600 more expensive, and ZR2 and ZR2 Bison prices are down $1,600. The price drop for ZR2 and ZR2 Bison models is due to the fact that the 3.0L I6 LZ0 turbodiesel Duramax engine is now fitted as standard, whereas the more-expensive naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 L87 gasoline engine was the exclusive powertrain offered, which is now optional.

In August, the 2024 Silverado 1500 received a destination freight charge increase of $100 to bump the total to $1,995.

The Chevy Silverado 1500 now offers a ZR2 Spec Multimatic DSSV Shock System accessory for the 2019 model year or later Silverado 1500, with a design and tuning intended to provide the truck with improved off-road performance.

The online configurator tool is live for the 2024 Silverado and still live for the 2023 Silverado.

  1. Nobody seems to want the 2.7L?? The $10k is for that motor. Still not enough. How about a 25% off MSRP for these inflated prices on the V8 trucks that haven’t had a HP/TQ increase since 2014!!!!!!!!!!!!

      1. Yes. Too many pop up ads. What an annoyance.

        1. Agreed, the annoying pop up videos seem to be growing in size, close to consuming 25% of the viewable space!

    2. You can thank Mary merry for the horsepower stagnation. Too much EV crap.

The full size trucks and utilities are the only thing making money for GM.

If you work there, you know that’s true.

    3. The 2.7L is an awesome engine, very strong in build and has plenty of usable power, plus significantly more torque (50 lb-ft) than the 5.3L. The torque curve has also been demonstrated to be very close to that of the old 8.1L big block, very flat and wide.

The 2.7L engine will rev freely, but in most driving conditions the long stroke unit powers the truck around around without any fuss at 1500-2000 rpm, with occasional acceleration bursts up to 3500 rpm or higher if needed.

The need for the transmission to shift is minimal and the 8 speed is a perfect pairing.

There have been very few mechanical issues with the 2.7L and there are a huge number of them are on the road, despite the naysayers, trolls and bench racer BS comments.

Many negative remarks posted here frequently appear to be “me too” types, likely who have never even sat in or driven a truck with the 2.7L, but they read it someplace, so it must be right.

“ASSUME” syndrome abounds with unfounded comments from “Negative Nellies”.

To be perfectly honest, my own early predicted “mythbeliefs” about the 4 cylinder engine were quickly proven wrong from testing and subsequently owning a ’23 Elevation with the L3B for the past year.

Fuel mileage also is notably better than the 5.3L although some seem to think otherwise. Living with a vehicle allows accurate feedback of facts, not distorted hearsay.

Like “Thomas the Tank Engine” the 2.7L L3B is the “little engine that can do.”

For anyone in the market for a new truck, the 2.7L is more than capable of meeting the needs of most buyers and then some, given a fair chance to prove itself.

      1. @ Martin S

It’s had it’s change to prove itself……5 YEARS and no one still wants it. NO, it doesn’t not get better gas mileage than a 5.3L. When you push that engine hard like a V8 and work it like a truck, it doesn’t get better MPGs. There are a ton of videos showing this on YouTube by gentlemen doing reviews.
