Chevy Camaro SUV Renderings Add Utility For The Muscle Car

The sixth-generation Chevy Camaro has officially sunset, with the final unit rolling off the line at GM’s Lansing Grand River plant in Michigan late last year. Although GM has confirmed that a new generation is in development, The General has yet to provide any details on the body style or powertrain it might offer. Odds are the next-gen model will be all-electric. Either way, we’ve already rendered the sixth-generation Chevy Camaro as a sedan, and now, we’re rendering the Chevy Camaro as an SUV.

Badge on the Chevy Camaro.

In total, we have three different Chevy Camaro SUV renderings here – an SS model, a ZL1 model, and finally a Z71 model. Each incorporates the front fascia of the sixth-generation Camaro, while the body style is less like a “traditional” SUV and more like a midsize sedan with a lift.

Our yellow Chevy Camaro SS SUV presents a set of two-tone wheels with a black and silver finish, plus two-tone sideview mirrors that match the yellow body with a black upper portion. Under the wheels, we see a set of big, blocky red brake calipers, while the front end places the SS badging in the corner of the upper air intake, and Bow Tie badging in the middle dividing bar.

Our orange-red Chevy Camaro ZL1 SUV ups the ante with even more performance cues, including a set of multi-spoke allow wheels with a black finish, offsetting the body and complementing the rest of the black trim bits. The hood incorporates a vented portion to further underline the model’s sporting intentions, while black ground effects ring the lower body sections with a new front lip and side skirts. ZL1 badging can be found in the grille, while a spoiler is mounted in the rear.

Finally, we have our white Chevy Camaro Z71 SUV,  adding a new entry in Chevy’s off-roader line with big, chunky tires, a front skid plate, a high-clearance front bumper, and red tow hooks. Although the Camaro is not traditionally known as an off-roader, the possible launch of a new utility vehicle body style for the nameplate presents the opportunity all the same.

Which of these Chevy Camaro SUV renderings strikes your fancy? Tell us by voting in the poll below, and remember to subscribe to GM Authority for more Chevy Camaro news, Chevy news, and around-the-clock GM news coverage.

Don’t quit your day job with these renders. I’m sure Chevy learned from Ford’s Mustang Mach-E that is piling up on dealership lots and won’t make an EV Camaro that looks like another station wagon.

A hybrid design to perform with AWD like a Corvette ERAY would be a wiser design than full EV.

No vote cast here.. all three are ugly as duck. GM and Chevrolet would be better off never resurrecting the Camaro nameplate if this is the direction they are headed. RIP Camaro.

Camaro was a 2 door coupe.
IF GM is stupid enough to stop production of this iconic model for a second time, just let it die with dignity on top! Re-naming a Blazer is asinine.
P.S. the bow tie pimple on the facia didn’t work in 19 (was placed back in the grille a few months into production because Camaro people hated it so much!

This is not a Camaro!! It’s more of a Malibu or Impala. You want something new, bring back the Cyclone and Typhoon and I think you’ll get better results! What that has been put in car magazines sure hit the nail on the head with their renderings! Tomg

GM is always the last one to the party with new concepts, the General used to have a lot of great styles that never made it to production. We don’t need anymore crossover and SUV vehicles, using performance cars names to leverage interest is dumb. The Corvette and Camaro deserve better, I’m very disappointed it took GM this long to copy cat competitors. The Mach E is a failure! Bob Lutz might be old, but he knows how to style and design vehicles that are more than a name. GM really needs to refocus their strategy. They have spent a fortune on EV’s, but ICE vehicles can’t languish in the meantime. With fewer divisions to maintain, GM should be able to keep both EV & ICE products competitive and profitable. Since North America is the main source of sales volume, keeping the current customer base should be top priority and expanding to younger audiences.

Since I own a 22 Camaro LT1 and a 22 Blazer, I wouldn’t suggest that using legendary heritage of the Camaro on a crossover vehicle. It diminishes the iconic model. I understand GM wants to leverage the brand equity, but it’s like when Coca Cola tried to rebrand Coke’s original formula in April 1985. Only three months later, in July 1985 the CEO admitted they made a huge mistake. Marketing departments have to justify their existence even when it doesn’t make any sense! Leave well enough alone, my Bolt EV is a better sports car than the Blazer. Please don’t try to make Camaro an SUV, it’s not necessary. It reminds me of the 80’s when Chevy ditched Malibu and went with Celebrity and Lumina before returning to the Malibu heritage. It was always Chevys bread and butter sedan. Brand equity is priceless, if used properly.

I’m still just sitting back and watching . I agree with most comments, it has 4 doors it will sell. If it has more room and easier to get packages in the rear. It will sell. Drop the Camaro name and call the thing Panther. I don’t ever remember the Camaro being referred to as panther. I’ll take there word on that. My wife and I have had 10 different Camaro models.
EV , won’t work . Tax Payers will have to keep paying for the few people that want to buy them. Just like solar panels. Tax Payers are paying for your neighbors panels. Hope that didn’t shock anyone.

Chevrolet has now ceded its position in NASCAR to both Ford and Toyota, unless they’re going to run the Malibu.

Since they killed off the only competition to the Mustang, why don’t they bring back the Chevelle, and make it like the 1970 396 SS?

    What could possibly go wrong?

It seems whenever a past muscle car is brought back, it ends up being a MASSIVE fail. Not all obviously. But the GTO, Ford Maverick, Looked NOTHING likr the orginal. Camaro , Charger, Challenger and Mustang at least have gotten it right. The Malibu hasn’t been a fun car since early 80’s . My 79 had the joke 267ci “V-8 . Dropped a crate 350cu and man it was fun n fast-may it RIP. The newer versions of the Vette are insane!, looks like a Lambo or Ferrari . Gorgeous ride. The Vette hasn’t gone away, I know just went through some really cool transformations. Why can’t they do that with other vehicles? I would love to see a new version of a 67” style Chevelle!!! Don’t give us a Camaro replacement, using the Chevelle name. Dunno, just my 2c. There is aplac3 8n Fla that builds classic cars, with a modern day twist. Naturally very $$$$.

Just stop bending over and taking rod from the Greenies and build cars that people want. We don’t want EVs or cars with so much nanny aid devices and unreasonable switches. Build a car and a truck that we can get in, turn the key and go and build them for a reasonable price.

if you make an BEV Camaro SUV, make it as a side platform like Ford. Do not replace what we already love and force us into something we dont want, that will make fans turn away from your company and go to others. I loved the 6th gen Camaro, mainly because of the chassis and the amazing handling. Please give us a 7th gen ICE Camaro based off the same chassis or Alpha platform. Even if it’s just a slight upgrade to the current 6th gen, I will happily take it. Even if it’s a stripped down Cadillac CT4/5 in Camaro form, I will happily take it.

Many coupes were discontinued for these reasons.

    1. Ever since Tesla Model S ($100,000) which is full size, 5 door 5 passenger hatch beat the sports coupes from $75,000 to $3,000,000 price tag in race, the charm of coupes as sport machines has gone. Today many EVs can beat sports coupes easily.

    2. Crossovers which have nearly double the trunk space and comfortable with 5 doors have taken over the market from both sedans and coupes. CUVs have gained 50%+ market share in China, USA and EU and continuing to gain more.

    3. Long doors of coupes could hit the other parked car during door opening and those mean people who dont care about others have changed their attitudes.

Ideally Ford could have called it MachE since its a 5 door 5 passenger electric crossover which is much different from the 2 door 4 seater gasser Mustang.

No idea who named it Mustang MachE. Probably they wanted MachE to play 2nd fiddle to Mustang.
There is no way anyone will pay $43,000 for it when you can pay another $2,000 and get a bigger Model Y which has access to supercharging stations all over besides having longer range.

You killed the Camaro, let it rest in peace. I was lucky enough to get a blue SS2 at the end of December. That was your call, now give this SUV a diffrent name. Or it will sit on lots and be scuttled in 2 years.

Why, why? Buyers have already shown they are not willing to spend money on the nameplate alone. A two plus two, with a sports car tilt is what GM needs. Less money than the corvette. Not this!!!
