Chevrolet Silverado EV Trail Boss Will Be A 2025 Model

Images of the Chevy Silverado EV Trail Boss have been released by Chevrolet Canada using the subsidiary’s Instagram account, with front and rear views of the all-electric pickup truck variant shown here as well.

The post also marks the first time GM has announced the model year of the Silverado EV Trail Boss, with the trim level expected to be launched as part of the 2025 Chevy Silverado EV model year.

The 2025 Chevy Silverado EV Trail Boss shown in the images is finished in the Habanero Orange exterior paint color. This paint color was last seen on the Trail Boss a year ago in February 2023, on another image of the Trail Boss trim as well as in Super Bowl ads for the electric pickup.

Very few details are currently known about the Silverado EV Trail Boss, which will eventually join the Work Truck (WT) and RST trim levels as part of the electric pickup’s lineup. Images of the Trail Boss reveal that the model has a matte black front fascia paired with a gray lower bumper element similar to the RST. The trim also has a higher stance and red tow hooks, and rides on beefy off-road tires.

The 2024 Chevy Silverado EV is structured around dedicated GM’s BT1 truck platform. The base WT trim is motivated by a modestly powerful version of the truck’s dual-motor setup that develops 510 horsepower and 615 pound-feet of torque. Meanwhile, the RST First Edition cranks out a whopping 754 horses and 785 pound-feet of torque when in Wide Open Watts mode.

This maximum output, which was uprated from original estimates as Chevy engineers refined the design, is enough to propel the RST from zero to 60 mph in under 4.5 seconds. Top payload is 1,300 pounds and the truck can tow up to 10,000 pounds.

The General Motors Ultium battery technology and Ultium Drive motor technology gives the Silverado EV a GM-estimated range of 400 miles on a single charge. Range will likely be less for the Silverado EV Trail Boss.

  1. The entire Silverado EV lineup is garbage. First, the Avalanche failed with that design, and second, if people are being forced into this EV nonsense, make it look like a real truck instead of this bubble of an excuse.

    1. I’d be scared to off road that thing considering how heavy it is. It would get buried in a slightly wet cornfield in less than 5 minutes

    2. To say that “The entire Silverado EV lineup is garbage” is just trash talking. As for the “real truck” definition, people are still debating on it for the last 100 years. And nobody is “forcing people in this EV nonsense”. All the important car manufacturers have already pushed the reset button.

  2. Maybe by making it different than the ICE Silverado, GM is quietly acknowledging that it is not equal to a real Silverado.

  3. I dig it

  4. I like it. Ride height and tires will definitely be a hit to range, but Silverado EV seems to be over delivering on that front, so it won’t be too bad if you really “need” to have the offroad add-ons or want that look.

  5. And it’s whopping 1300 lb payload allows it to tow up to to 10,000lb, barely. What a waste.

  8. Cool! Unfortunately it won’t be cheap. And actually the the work truck is rated at around 450 miles with the largest battery option… So I wood gas the trail boss will have about 400 miles (combined
rating) with the largest battery option.

  9. Can’t wait for someone to purchase one of these, park it in the grass while it pours down rain overnight, and then have to call a tow truck in the morning to extract the truck from the mud, where it sank into the ground from being grossly over weight.

Think I’m joking? This already happened to someone with a Hummer EV.

  15. GM’s definition of a EV work truck is far from what most work trucks really are. Why not offer a regular cab with a 8″ box in an EV to keep cost down and be more capable of hauling a load than a crewcab model. It seem all the companies only want to sell F’n over size crewcabs with rinky dinky boxes on the back and charge a fortune for them.
