Cadillac Dealer Inventory Rises In January 2024

Back in December 2023, Cadillac inventory levels stood at 52 days of supply, which was down from the November 2023 days supply figure of 61. That being said, inventory levels across the United States of the luxury marque rose once again in January 2024.

According to a report from Cox Automotive, Cadillac inventory levels stood at 60 days of supply as of January 2024, while the average was 80. This means that at the current sales pace, there is enough inventory on dealership lots to last for 60 days, which is also generally considered optimal in the automotive industry. In comparison to the rest of General Motors’ U.S.-market brands, Caddy was ranked lowest overall as Chevy, GMC, and Buick stood at 81, 83, and 119 days of supply, respectively.

It’s worth noting that these all figures are related to the U.S. market.

This rise in inventory levels comes despite The General having taken numerous actions that would typically result in a decrease of inventory across its U.S. brands. In regard to Cadillac specifically, most of its facilities were closed towards the end of the 2023 calendar year for the holidays. Additionally, GM scheduled an extra week of downtime at its Spring Hill plant in Tennessee, where the Cadillac XT5Cadillac XT6 and Cadillac Lyriq are produced, as well as maintenance at the Lansing Grand River plant in Michigan, which assembles the Cadillac CT4 and Cadillac CT5. As such, one may expect inventory to decrease, not the opposite.

With that in mind, these decisions likely weren’t made to address the surplus inventory itself. Moving forward, this may change as the day supply figure continues to rise.

As background, this study was based on the daily sales rate for the most recent 30-day period – which in this case ended on February 5th, 2024. Over this timeframe, January 2024 sales rose nine percent on a year-over-year basis for a total sales pace of 15 million units.

  3. Stupid of Cadillac to not sell an updated XT5 and XT6. They were selling well, at least retain them for 5 more years until EVs become more mainstream.

    1. Gonna be a lot longer than 5 years for EV’s to become mainstream. Try 15 to NEVER. In 5 years insurance companies won’t even look at insuring them.

  5. Being a Buick guy beginning in 1980 forward, I changed to a new 2024 Cadillac XT6 AWD loaded. Put on GM running boards and ordered GM front and rear splash guards and they would not fit. Dealership said GM knows, and nothing can be done. Wrote GM Cadillac twice. Including their Quality Survey after delivery, no response. Even contacted Spring Hill, still nothing. Thought GM made “GM quality parts”. Should have stuck with the Buick Enclave. And they are larger. Next one will be…

  6. Looks like there will be a 15k 2023 CT4 bought new by my sister on a used lot soon. Has been back to dealer 3 times with fan motor, brakes, transmission & now info center screen is rattling very badly. Says it’s bad to BMW or Infinity for here. Feel bad as I recommended the caddy to her as she wanted a sedan. My wife wants to upgrade from her 2020 Equinox to a new XT4 & I am concerned to get a caddy. Not just GM, hundreds of thousands of recalls by Ford & Toyota last week. Quality has gone done the tubes across many brands.

    1. Do not worry about the XT4. Just bought my daughter a 2020 Cadillac XT4 AWD loaded (12K miles). Great vehicle. No quality issues. Turbo four cylinder is powerful and quick. Almost reminds one of a sports car (not quite, but close) as the ride is smooth and handling is tight. Only draw back was the small gas tank which is standard on all small SUVs in the market. We both love it. I’m 70, she’s 40. Good luck Davy.

  7. After being loyal to Cadillac since 2005, in ’23 it was time for a change. Their poor quality and direction completely turned me off. I liked the XT5 so bought an XT4 for the wife and HATED it. 4-Cyl turbos are NOT the answer. XT4’s engine is loud and whiney with the typical turbo lag. The interior was OK, but a little noisier than a Caddy should be and the seats were meh. When it was time to trade in the XT5, I couldn’t find anything Cadilac was making that wasn’t bad in some way, small interiors, small engines, and I had ZERO interest in EV’s (Caddy’s direction). Wish they had the EXT still. So I left and had to go to GMC to get powerful smooth ride with ample interior space.
