C8 Zora Rival Ferrari F250 Spied Testing In Italy: Photos

Our sister site, MOTROLIX, spotted Ferrari’s upcoming hypercar testing as a camouflaged prototype, giving us an early look at Italy’s upcoming C8 Zora Corvette rival. Although the C8 Zora and Ferrari F250 are expected to offer relatively similar performance, the Zora should be significantly less expensive and higher in production volume and availability. The new Ferrari F250, however, is expected to debut this coming Fall.

The Ferrari F250 testing as a camouflaged prototype.

The prototype spotted here was seen testing around Maranello, and is obviously draped in very heavy camouflage to obscure the styling and aero elements underneath. Up front, we spot curving, angular wing elements and a deep front air intake, plus a vented hood element, while in the corners, a staggered wheel setup incorporates enormous brakes with red-painted calipers. The rear end shows a center-mounted exhaust treatment, plus a race-style diffuser and horizontally oriented taillights.

As for the goodies under the skin, the upcoming Ferrari 250 is expected to cradle a hybrid powertrain pairing a V6 internal combustion engine with an electric motor. Naturally, the hybrid will be tuned for performance, while exotic, lightweight materials will keep the pounds down.

Ferrari announced the forthcoming “supercar” at its recent Capital Markets Day event, signaling a launch around the 2026 timeframe and production limited to “far less than 5 percent of total volumes.” Rumor has it production will be capped at roughly 600 units, with 200 Aperta / Spider variants and a couple dozen track-only variants as well. Pricing will likely be around 2 million dollars, and each unit is likely already spoken for.

Meanwhile, the upcoming C8 Zora will debut the flagship model for the eighth-generation Corvette C8 lineup. Specs are obviously still under wraps, but for the moment, the Zora is expected to cradle a twin-turbo V8 and hybrid-electric powertrain, plus all-wheel drive grip á la the C8 Corvette E-Ray. In addition, the C8 Zora will likely carry a price tag well below that of the 2-million-dollar Ferrari F250, not to mention significantly higher production numbers.

    1. Haha, tell me you are a ten year old kid without actually telling us.

None of those brands you listed are trash, especially Porsche. What is sad is the Corvette even today has been struggling to unseat the Porsche that has less power at the track. I am a fan, but all those teams are well respected and out performing Corvette for a long time. It will be exciting to see what the new Zora brings and if the numbers match performance, because many of those listed are underrated.

  3. Another model that will be built on the same production line as the C8, Z06, E-Ray, and ZR1 which will decrease the number of models that can be produced. GM cannot fulfill the backlog of Z06’s and E-Ray’s today which is continuing to frustrate new and loyal Corvette customers. If you want to place an order today for a Z06 or E-Ray you’re looking at 3+ years for delivery. Adding the ZR1 and Zora expect a 5 year wait. By the end of the year GM will be marketing and promoting 5 models of the Corvette. They need to add an *asterisk in the marketing material and website informing the customer *(delivery time 4-5 years).

  4. I really don’t see a 4-5 year wait. Maybe 12 months.

  5. “C8 Zora Rival” you speak as if the Zora has been officially confirmed. Remember, this is GM. The same company that was going to make a mid-sub $30k Blazer EV, the 2nd Gen Saturn Ion Quad Coupe, or the best one of them all… the 2nd Gen Pontiac Aztec.

  9. It’s pretty simple, the people who buy corvettes are the people that can’t afford Ferraris. They are Ferrari wannabe’s. Nobody really cares about corvettes when they see them, but Ferraris always bring out the oohs and ahhs and panty drops. Corvette enthusiasts will claim that it’s about bang for the buck to justify their middle class status. Nobody other than maybe hillbillies would choose a corvette if they could afford the Ferrari

  10. “C8 Zora rival” look I’m as hyped as anyone else but it’s not even gonna be close. The E-Ray is light-years behind the last Ferrari hypercar in performance and that was a decade ago
