2025 GM Vehicles Get More Standard OnStar Features In Canada

GM has announced that all new 2025 model-year Buick, Cadillac, Chevy, and GMC vehicles sold in Canada will be equipped with more standard OnStar features. The new features will be included with the OnStar One Standard package, and will be available for eight years after vehicle purchase at no additional cost above the vehicle retail price. General Motors fleet vehicles will also equip standard features similar to retail vehicles.

All GM vehicles will equip additional OnStar features as standard for the 2025 model year and later.

Among the features included with the OnStar One Standard package are Automatic Crash Response, remote vehicle commands as well as navigation and voice assistance.

“By standardizing some of our most appealing OnStar features, we can deliver more technology and value at every price point, helping ensure our vehicles and customers stay connected for the long term,” said president, General Motors North America, Marissa West. “With this move, every new vehicle in our lineup will include a compelling set of safety and connected services that is distinct to GM thanks to nearly 30 years of OnStar experience and innovation.”

The 2025 Chevy Trax and Buick Envista crossovers will be among the first vehicles equipped with the new OnStar One Standard package. In addition to features like Automatic Crash Response and remote vehicle commands, all 2025 model-year General Motors EVs will be equipped with three years of connectivity to support in-vehicle features like Navigation and voice assistance.

The OnStar Automatic Crash Response feature will connect customers to an Emergency Advisor just moments after an accident, even if they are unresponsive. The advisor will then be able to provide medical assistance, while also relaying vital information to first responders. Remote vehicle commands include a number of features accessible through a smartphone, such as remote door locking and unlocking, remote vehicle start, and vehicle mapping. Navigation and Voice assistance includes built-in apps such as Google Maps, Google Assistant, Alexa Built-in, and Waze.

As GM Authority covered previously, General Motors customers in the U.S. will have access to similar features through the new OnStar One Essentials package, which is included as standard on all new 2025-model-year GM vehicles.

  3. Too little too late! Onstar sucks if you have to pay extra for it on all previous years of GM vehicles. I have never purchased it. When the free trial ended I said goodbye!
