General Motors officially unveiled the 2025 Chevy Equinox in January 2024, introducing the fourth-generation of the Bow Tie brand’s compact crossover. As one may expect, there is an extensive list of changes and updates to the next-gen Equinox, including a revamped trim level structure. In this GM Authority Feature Spotlight, we’re taking a look at what sets the LT trim apart from the other trims.
First and foremost, LT becomes the base trim for the 2025 Equinox, meaning that there will be no L or LS trim below it. Beyond that, the 2025 Equinox will also be offered in the more sporty-looking RS and rugged Activ.

The Equinox LT will boast a number of unique exterior styling features, the most prominent of which is the front fascia, which is unique to each trim. In the case of the LT, the front end is adorned with chrome. Those who prefer less chrome will be happy to know that the Midnight Edition (package) will feature a High Gloss Black grille. A two-tone roof will also be on offer, as GM Authority covered previously.
As for rollers, 17-inch aluminum wheels will be equipped as standard, while 19-inchers will be offered as an option.
The interior features standard heated front cloth seats and a standard heated steering wheel. Also standard is an 11.3-inch diagonal infotainment touch-screen with Google Built-In and an 11-inch diagonal Driver Information Center (gauge cluster). Cloth seats are standard, while Evotex – GM’s synthetic leather – is optional.
Other goodies on the standard features list include folding 60/40 split-bench second row seats, 5G with built-in Wi-Fi Hotspot, a six speaker audio system, and optional Wireless Charging.
Under the hood, all 2025 Chevy Equinox models – including the LT – feature the turbocharged 1.5L I4 LSD gasoline engine, rated at 175 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque in front-wheel-drive (FWD) variants, or 203 pound-feet of torque in all-wheel-drive (AWD) units. Speaking of drivetrain configurations, FWD units are mated to a continuously variable transmission (CVT), while AWD examples are matched to the GM eight-speed automatic transmission. An additional upgrade for the new generation includes Electronic Precision Shift on the steering column, which enables additional storage space underneath the infotainment screen.
Note that the engine carries over from the last generation, while the transmissions are all-new. A more powerful engine option is not offered (check out Chevy’s reasoning for that).
The fourth-gen Chevy Equinox rides on an updated variant of the GM D2 platform, where the wheelbase, length, and width have all been stretched for the all-new generation. Production will kick off at the GM San Luis Potosà plant in May 2024. The plant will be the exclusive facility to build the new Equinox for North America. Pricing figures and a complete feature set are expected to be released closer to the start of production.

It’s sad that the Premier trim has been deleted. Let’s hope the new Terrain ‘Denali’ comes out much more luxurious.
The Premier and High Country were eliminated from the 2024 Traverse lineup….
Clearly, automakers have found yet another way to arrogantly gouge. The list is endless.
We have a 19 Nox Premier and really like the leather interior, double sunroof, and other nice appointments.
We have a 21 Premier w/o the sunroof (we’re not sunroof people) and we enjoy everything about it except it doesn’t have wireless Android Auto/Apple Car Play. Sad to see the Premier go…..
The RS will take its place , and be equally as nice , but with dark trim as opposed to chrome
Making it look like a cheaper model or more off road oriented. Black plastic and wheels do no translate into top of the line
“Black plastic and wheels do no translate into top of the line”
Running directly contrary to that notion is the 2022 BMW X7 currently sitting in my driveway. It has Shadowline (black trim), and the owner paid extra to extend that trim to a few areas from the factory (extended Shadowline option). The vehicle was fully loaded (aka top of the line) and had an MSRP of $93K.
I think it’s safe to say to each his/her own when it comes to the chrome vs. black trim.
GM’s trim structure for Chevrolet confuses me as there isn’t consistency. Traverse, Trax, and Trailblazer all have LS trim levels but Equinox doesn’t? The EV Equinox is only LT and RS but there are 3LTs and 2RS trims. Definitely confusing for the consumer and not sure how that will help on the residual side of the business. Baffles me there would be more trims on the EV than gas model.
There will also be an Activ trim level for the 2025 as well…..
LT is the new LS, it has cloth seats
I wish it was still LS, LT, and LTZ
Its a bit annoying how they keep taking more and more choices away. Now we lose the lower priced basic model and the luxury oriented version but only gain another blacked out sporty/rugged variant. We also lost a more powerful engine option, a cloth interior color option and starting in 2018 lost the adjustable second row seats that are now fixed and only fold flat. If Ford can offer two cloth seat colors, an optional engine and several luxury oriented versions of the Escape plus a hybrid that doesn’t say much for the new Equinox. Chevy can do a lot better!
The escape is a thing of the past now, they killed it because bronco sport cannibalized it
There are reasons Ford earns about 1/3 less than GM. One of which is poor product discipline. GMs simplicity drive means taking away build complexity and figuring out what the meat of the market wants and not designing, building or holding parts inventory of thousands of configurations that don’t return their cost of capital. I applaud GMs discipline.
Sounds like a paid apologist.
Good for the Corporate, not so good for the customers.
This will be the trim that most people will be able to afford. I think he new Equinox will be a successful vehicle for Chevrolet.
I do not mind the plastic cladding around the car. Here in NY, everywhere you go there are stones to pop up and hit the car.
You know what would be a cool new (retro) feature that no one has yet dared to bring back? Wood-grain trim on the body sides!
The new 4th generation Equinox looks really really nice. The only decision is whether to wait for the 2025 or get a great deal on a 2024.
