Exactly one year after introducing GMC’s iconic full-size pickup for the first time in the country, General Motors has just launched the 2024 GMC Sierra Denali in South Korea.
The 2024 GMC Sierra Denali was officially launched as the second model year of the luxury truck in South Korea, where GMC’s flagship model inaugurated the full-size pickup segment and remains the only American-brand representative in the South Korean automotive market. The 2024 Sierra 1500 arrives in the country with improved features and adds new colors that further reinforce its level of refinement.
“Sierra, GMC’s flagship, is a monumental model that is pioneering the domestic full-size pickup truck market, and its marketability has been further enhanced by the model year change,” said Managing Director of Communications and CMO at GM Korea, Myongok Yoon. “The 2024 Sierra, with new colors and options, has the best performance of an authentic American pickup truck and a configuration optimized for a premium outdoor lifestyle,” she added.
In response to local customer feedback, 2024 GMC Sierra Denali units for South Korea are equipped as standard with the new active variable exhaust system that was introduced for the 2024 model year. The system allows owners to experience different exhaust sounds based on the selected Drive mode, with the exhaust valve opening fully in Sport and Off-Road modes to enjoy the strong natural sound of the 6.2L L87 V8 engine.
Additionally, the 2024 GMC Sierra Denali now includes wireless smartphone charging as standard equipment, Downpour Metallic replaces Pacific Blue, while the interior colorway will vary depending on the chosen variant: Denali will continue with Jet Black and the country’s exclusive Denali-X will come standard with the new Atmosphere/Brownstone colorway.
The 2024 GMC Sierra Denali is now available for sale in South Korea through GMC’s official website in the country, which includes an exclusive online store for the truck brand where customers can purchase the Sierra 1500 from the comfort of their home. The truck will also be offered at dedicated GMC sales outlets and will continue to be supported by GM Korea’s extensive dealer network.
These are the prices of the 2024 GMC Sierra 1500 in South Korea:
- 2024 Sierra Denali: 93,800,000 won (about $70,470 USD at the current exchange rate)
- 2024 Sierra Denali-X: 95,500,000 won ($71,750 USD)

Koreans are actually buying these? Not that I am doubting it to be a great truck but I have seen this done before in places like Europe, Japan, and even Korea and people from these countries usually prefer smaller cars. Has something changed?
I don’t think that this is intended to be a volume seller. More like something different for those that want to spend a bunch of money to make a statement.
Japan is a country that prefers small cars, but not Korea. In Korea, large sedans(Chevy Impala sized) and mid-size SUVs(Chevy Blazer sized) are the most popular segments, and Korean consumers’ preference for large automobiles is also noticeably increasing. The GMC Sierra, which was brought to Korea last year, sold out 100 initial units quickly, bringing the total sales to 443 units in Korea in 2023. It’s less sales than a mid-size pickup, but it’s a meaningful number. Over the same period, some 1,000 Ford Ranger and 1,700 Chevy Colorado have been sold in Korea.
Yes, gm could’ve only sent those trucks there due to request, GMC is gaining some traction in the global market.

Who really cares what GM is selling in South Korea. More interest as to why we are well into February and there are no 2024 ZR2 Colorados on Dealer lots yet . More concerned about what goes on in the US.
no way they will sell more than 10 there… this is the size of a literal korean delivery truck. besides im sure whoever wanted one of them there already imported regardless. i think gm is just trying to enter markets via 3rd party distributors on the cheap for image exposure. i hope it works
