General Motors has released a preliminary information bulletin stating that certain units of the 2024 Chevy Trax and 2024 Chevy Trailblazer will require a software update to address an issue with the heated seat function when the vehicle is started remotely.
According to Preliminary Information Bulletin PIT6117, some customers may find that their heated seat function does not work while using remote start in cold weather, and that the option to enable heated seats may be missing from the remote engine start personalization menu on the infotainment screen. A software update will be necessary to correct the issue, but as of this writing, GM is still working on said update. In the meantime, dealers are discouraged from attempting to fix the infotainment system of affected vehicles.
As a reminder, for the 2024 Chevy Trax, heated front seats are included in the LS Convenience Package (RPO code ZFT) for the base LS trim, included in the LT Convenience Package (RPO code 6K5) on the LT, and standard on the 1RS, 2RS and Activ trims. Meanwhile, the remote start feature is included in the optional LS Convenience Package (RPO code ZFT) on the base LS, while it is standard in 1RS, LT, 2RS and Activ.
As for the 2024 Chevy Trailblazer, heated front seats (RPO code KA1) aren’t offered on the base LS trim. However, they are included in the optional LT Cold Weather Package (RPO code Y19) on the LT variants, and are standard on the RS and Activ trims. The remote start feature (RPO code BTV) is included in the LS Convenience Package (RPO code WPG) on the base LS, while it is standard in LT, RS and Activ trims.
It’s worth noting that some units of the 2024 Buick Encore GX and 2024 Buick Envista may also be affected by the aforementioned seat heater issue.

They work on mine when I remote start it. I will say that whoever GM shopped the software coding out to needs to be replaced with a better company. Lots of car companies are having software difficulties lately, it’s not just GM. Actually, just about all of them have had a recall or stop sale or both this last year or so. Could be related to the “ramping up” to full production capacity again, I suppose. As much as it sucks, these things happen. No company is immune from it.
