General Motors has released a safety recall for select units of the 2024 Chevy Silverado EV due to potentially torn rear seat belts.
The problem: affected vehicles may have a condition where an incorrect seat belt bezel was installed at the second-row center seating position, which could then damage or tear the rear seat belt in certain crash conditions.
The hazards: if the rear seat belt were to tear in the event of an accident, an occupant in that seating position may not be properly restrained, thus resulting in an increased risk of injury.
The fix: certified GM technicians are instructed to inspect affected vehicles and replace the second-row center seat belt bezel with the correct bezel as necessary, free of charge. It should take techs less than 30 minutes to complete this repair.
Affected components: second-row center seat belt bezel.
Affected vehicles:
Number of affected vehicles: According to GM, 352 Chevy Silverado EV units are affected by the recall. In addition, the Detroit-based automaker has enacted a stop-delivery order until this repair can be performed.
Owners should: General Motors will notify owners of affected vehicles via letter starting on March 25th, 2024 and instruct them to make an appointment with their local GM dealer. Any owners that are unsure whether or not their vehicle is affected by this recall can visit my.gm.com/recalls and type in their VIN to see any open recalls or other actions that may be active on it. Will they be able to fix all three “trucks” (EValanches) before the end of the year though?
That is hilarious, they took my money for a reservation and I have never heard a word about where my truck is !
2024 Chevy Silverado EV
Is the coolest thing GM makes yet they are still having issues with the basics. The seat belt? CMon.
Ford seems to have the right idea making EV trucks. These avalanche EVs seem like they are ‘Keeping up with the Jones’s” models to impress the neighbors.
Not serious trucks.
Not serious trucks. << Whats your complaint? Just wondering. From what I understand it tows a bit and has good all around mileage.
GM is failing hard in EVs. The only model they could make in volume (Bolt) has stopped production. They cannot make Ultium in volmue. Their software engineers cannot code anything that is reliable for Ultium cars. OTAs still brick their ICE vehicles. Their dedicated platform EVs are overwieght pigs.
Now they are back to botching the basics like seatbelts.
GM hyped their EV future for YEARS and still have almost nothing in the showroom that you can buy. Absolultely pathetic.
By the time they get their act together, the ship will have sailed and the competition will beat them again. Same story for decades.
This is so completely frustring for a long term GM fan/owner like myself. It’s been like rooting for a perinnally losing sports team. I’ve owned a dozen GM cars continualy for 40 years and now my household just bacame GM free. I’m done with these idiots.
