2024 Buick Electra E4 Lineup Now More Affordable In China

Eight months after officially launching Buick’s all-electric crossover coupe in China, General Motors has just launched an updated and more affordable 2024 Buick Electra E4 lineup in the Asian country.

SAIC-GM, the American automaker’s main joint venture in China, launched the all-new 2024 Buick Electra E4 in the Asian country’s domestic market with an updated price range, and now, all versions of the crossover are noticeably cheaper than before. In addition, the Electra E4 range will also receive some equipment updates with greater connectivity and smart features for the sound system.

In particular, the 2024 Buick Electra E4 range now starts at 159,900 yuan, or about $22,250 USD at the current exchange rate, in its entry-level Smart trim – which was initially launched with a price of 189,900 yuan or $26,520 USD. This represents a substantial base price reduction of more than $4,200 USD, which is close to the average price drop for each of the four Electra E4 variants in China.

For its part, the range-topping 2024 Buick Electra E4 GS with AWD now costs 229,900 yuan or $31,980 USD in the Chinese market – an even greater adjustment that reduced the starting price of the fully equipped variant at about $4,320 USD from the previous 259,900 yuan or $36,300 USD. These price reductions show Buick is following the market trend while facing the aggressive competitiveness of Chinese domestic manufacturers.

The 2024 Buick Electra E4 first debuted in China in the middle of last year as the brand’s second all-electric vehicle based on GM’s Ultium architecture worldwide. In fact, the Electra E4 stands out for being the first coupe crossover in Buick’s global portfolio and for introducing the sporty looking GS trim level for the first time in a zero-emission model.

The updated and more affordable 2024 Buick Electra E4 range is now available in the official Buick dealer network in China, the largest volume market for the Tri-Shield brand. It includes four variants spread across three trim levels, with a 241-horsepower front-mounted single-motor powertrain as standard, while the GS AWD adds an additional rear Ultium Drive unit for a total output of 283 horsepower.

Here is updated pricing for the 2024 Buick Electra E4 in China:

  • Electra E4 Smart: 159,900 yuan (about $22,250 USD at the current exchange rate)
  • Electra E4 Premium: 182,900 yuan ($25,450 USD)
  • Electra E4 GS: 192,900 yuan ($26,840 USD)
  • Electra E4 GS AWD: 229,900 yuan ($31,980 USD)

  2. Probably cannot, crash requirements. But looks good. Way better than the EQS just mentioned in the prior article. And how many times more is the EQS. No wonder Europe is worried about Chinese imported cars.

    1. The crash requirements are probably the reason, as you say. It surely couldn’t be that GM is unwilling to bring to the US a Buick that is better looking than any Cadillac!

      1. Or more imoprtantly, sell consumers a stylish Buick EV that sells for $10k+ LESS than what idiots willingly pay for a base model refigerator shaped Chevy…

  3. At that price Buick would have an excellent seller if that vehicle made its way stateside (would need to be made in Mexico alongside the Equinox EV) but since GM wants to charge $56K for a slightly larger Chevrolet I guess GM has no interest in their EVs gaining a market edge here.

  4. DEIVIS CENTENO: Do you know what issues there are with these if any? Comparing to the Blazer EV…

  5. I’ll still stick with my 1977 Buick Electra 225 made in Flint, Michigan by real Americans.

  6. The styling proves that a high-style vehicle CAN be made on a shorter-wheelbase car. Great Job! Nice interior, too.

  7. Better styling, brighter colors in China.

    Great job, Mary.

  8. When Electra E5? Would love to get that over the Blazer EV and Lyriq.

  9. Pretty nice designs for Buicks in China. Would like to see them in North Americs. And at those prices! Wow.

  10. Just curious, why are GM’s China car designs so much better than in the US?

    1. gm plans to build up China Buick offering than Buick in North America as they buyout more Bick dealerships across America. Ford is doing the same killing off Lincoln dealerships too!
