Decisions, decisions. When it comes to buying a new GMC Sierra 1500, customers have quite a few decisions to make, not the least of which is the trim level of their new pickup. With eight trims to choose from, customers have a wide variety of options, but which of the eight is considered best? Now, we’re letting the court of public opinion decide in the following GM Authority poll.
We already proposed a similar poll for the Chevy Silverado 1500 a little over a week ago, so head over that way to see the results. Like we stated in the Chevy Silverado poll, selecting the “best” trim level is obviously subjective, with each trim offering its own unique combination of features, pros, and cons. Naturally, all of these attributes will weigh on each customer differently, but a few obvious considerations to make would be price, technology, performance, and appearance.
At the base level of the lineup is the GMC Sierra Pro, which features 17-inch painted Silver steel wheels, a seven-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth pairing, and Apple CarPlay / Android Auto support. The SLE upgrades to a 13.4-inch infotainment screen with Google built-in and a 12.3-inch Driver Information Center, as well as heated driver and front outboard passenger seats. The wheels are also 17-inch aluminum units.
Stepping up to the Elevation gets you 20-inch wheels and body-colored bumpers, while SLT includes a 10-way power front passenger seat. The Sierra AT4 trim steps it up with an off-road-oriented two-inch factory-installed lift. The Denali trim opens up Super Cruise as an option.
The GMC Sierra AT4X is the most rugged trim level of the lineup and is equipped with even more off-road goodies (we are including the AEV Edition Package with the AT4X trim), while the Denali Ultimate is the most plush, offering unique styling and even more cabin amenities.
As a reminder, the GMC Sierra offers four engine options, including the turbocharged 2.7L I4 L3B, atmospheric 5.3L V8 L84, the atmospheric 6.2L V8 L87 gasoline engine, and the 3.0L I6 LZ0 turbodiesel Duramax. The GM T1 platform provides the underpinnings. Production takes place at the GM Fort Wayne plant in Indiana and GM Silao plant in Mexico.
Let us know which GMC Sierra 1500 trim level you think is the best by voting in the poll, and remember to subscribe to GM Authority for more GMC Sierra news, GMC news, and around-the-clock GM news coverage.

The best looking pickup period is a 2500 AT4. In the pole I chose a AT4 and I think the X takes away from the styling for me.
pole or poll?
Agreed. I really don’t like that AEV bumper at all…
GMC Sierra 1500 SLT, far and above the best value and logical choice.
Have a 1993 SLE still going! Bought it new has 210,000 miles. Best Truck ever!! 5.7 V8 with a 5 Speed manual. I want another one!!!
Love my 23 Denali with reserve package. The ultimate is ugly as sin.
Let me know how wrong am I. If you are shopping for a truck today, according to “internet pricing” or manufactures web sites as GMC.com, Chevrolet.com and Ford.com, (I’a not shopping for a RAM) appears to me a 2WD 2024 SLE GMC pickup truck, just picking an extra color, nothing else, (w/o adding any more packages or options) this truck, comparing with others with very similar or equal features, is at the lowest price among all manyfactures.
I love my 23 sierra denali ultimate except after ordering online and gifting my MSRP to a local dealer, they added $5000 just because. That’s the only thing that left a bad taste in my mouth.
I have purchased the LT or the SLE since 1969, you get options that make your life a little easier, your partner likes the added features also !
bought 2023 elevation…so far good choice and handles well.
crash alert is kool! just wish theyd left a spot to put a light bar in grill…
free oil changes and service is beyond helpful!!! best choice purchase so far!!
My vote is the Denali. Love every single one I have ever had!
Denali hands down!
Please GMC get rid of the cheap fender plastic on the Sierra. This should have never been introduced. I have a 2008 Sierra and those fenders still look awesome without the ugly plastic.
I have two answers.
Best overall bang for your buck: SLT w/ X31 package. You get a decent amount of luxury and tech and most of the off road goodies that the AT4 brings without paying AT4 prices.
My favorite trim though is the AT4. Love the interior, almost as loaded as the Denali but with all the great off road fun you can ever ask for.
My vote is Denali all the way.
the most expensive and shiny one. denali ultimate. for when you must have the ultimate pavement crawler.
AT4 is best, Denali with chrome is for boomers.
Best of both worlds would be the AT4! Great looks and handle. Only if they could option out for a better style of seats.
Agree. I wish they would offer the AT4X interior (or at least seats) for the AT4…
