The upcoming 2025 Chevy Equinox will introduce the crossover’s latest fourth generation, ushering in a variety of updates and changes over the current model. Among the updates will be a new exterior, with new styling and new measurements to boot. Now, GM Authority is comparing the exterior dimensions of the forthcoming 2025 Chevy Equinox to those of the current, third-gen Equinox.
Looking at the exterior dimensions, we find that the 2025 Chevy Equinox is nearly the same size as current model, with a wheelbase that’s 0.2 inches longer on to an overall length that’s up by 0.1 inches.
The biggest differences, however, are in the overall width and overall height, with the upcoming 2025 Chevy Equinox having an extra 2.3 inches in width compared to the 2024 Equinox. This certainly makes sense given the more rugged design of the all-new model.
2025 Chevy Equinox | 2024 Chevy Equinox | Difference 2025 vs. 2024 | |
---|---|---|---|
Wheelbase (in. / mm) | 107.5 / 2,730 | 107.3 / 2,725 | +0.2 / +5 |
Length (in. / mm) | 183.2 / 4,654 | 183.1 / 4,652 | +0.1 / +2 |
Width (in. / mm) | 74.9 / 1,903 | 72.6 / 1,843 | +2.3 / +60 |
Height (in. / mm) | 65.6 / 1,667 | 65.4 / 1,661 | +0.2 / +6 |
While General Motors has yet to formally debut the all-new 2025 Chevy Equinox, there’s still quite a bit of intel that GM Authority has gathered on the next-gen crossover thus far. As expected, the new ‘Nox will show all-new styling, as previewed in a series of leaks initially published in China last year. The leaks also included the next-gen model’s new exterior dimensions. Highlights of the updated styling include Chevy’s latest signature ICE-based lighting treatment, with a two-tier “highbrow” layout similar to that of the Chevy Traverse and Chevy Blazer. In addition, the design overhaul is quite substantial, resulting in an attractively rugged appearance.
The cabin space will be overhauled as well, and will feature improved ergonomics, a new digital gauge cluster, and a larger infotainment screen, as well as the GM Super Cruise semi-autonomous driver assist system. As for the greasy bits, the next-gen Equinox is expected to cradle a new, small-displacement engine with turbocharged aspiration, which will likely connect to the GM nine-speed automatic transmission, with front-wheel drive as standard and all-wheel drive as optional. Under the skin, the next-gen Equinox will ride on an updated variant of the GM D2 platform (hence the nearly identical wheelbase).
Look for the all-new Equinox to begin rolling off the production line this coming May, as GM Authority reported last year.

That increased width and height could be an issue for those of us with newer homes and small garages (relatively speaking). I can barely fit our 2 mid-sized sedans in it now and the Nox is on my short list, until I see the actual specs and not the Chinese ones. Could be a problem.
@Beachy29579
So did you not do some research before buying your new house on how big the garage was? That’s the first thing I did when I purchased my new house in 2021. I walked into the garage, measured it, came out to 1500 sq. ft and said I’m sold. My builder built it the right way, knowing that garage space is crucial for any MAN!!! I can’t believe how many “cheap” builders “skimp out on the garage space, yet, people still buy the homes….SMFH
I think Beachy may reside in Florida. Our newer communities have downsized the garage widths and lengths. So, I agree with Beachy29579; there may be a problem in certain market segments.
Easy fix , get a Trailblazer, they are a great compact CUV. We have 1 in the family along with 2 current gen Equinox. The Trailblazer will do everything we need and it works well on the Highway as well as around town.
Try one out if the Nox is too big, i think you will be pleasantly surprised. And if AWD is not necessary I bet the new Trax will fill the bill.
If you can’t fit an Equinox in that garage then I would be worried about the rest of the house and where they may have cut corners. I can understand not fitting a Tahoe (I don’t think I can in my NJ garage). But an Equinox? I’d be livid and would certainly feel cheated.
Realtors and their listings seem to go out of their way to keep from telling you about the garage.
Oh come on scbeachbum.
I would think it would not be as tall as a Traverse which fit in garages.
Hum….. newer homes tend to more garage space along with access doors
Any idea when actual photos will be released in North America? I can’t wait to see the interior, exterior and specs.
Can’t wait for the redesigned chevys to hit the streets especially that new traverse.
Has the interior space inceased? My present 2009 Equinox can carry 4 feet wide panels and 10 feet lumber inside!
4 foot wide I find that hard to believe I have a 2012 which is different but not even close to carry something 4 foot wide
I have carried a 8 foot by 4 foot cardboard panel inside. But part of the cardboard was riding over my head. A 6 x 4 plywood panel fits easily over the folded back seats. If you don’t believe me, just search for the first generation (2005 – 2009) Equinox internal dimensions. And 10 foot lumber does fit inside over the folded passenger seat. I have carried a 10 foot aluminum ladder, too. The maximum internal length space is 128 inches.
I found some info on my 2009 first gen Equinox. The width is 71.4 inches, rear shoulder room is 55.9 inches, and the internal volume is 106.4 cubic feet. If the 2025 is wider at 74.9 inches, it may fit 4 foot wide cargo inside.
Hope it has a turbo 4 based on the 2.5L turbo 4 that will be in the 2025 Traverse.
@Andre Thomas
Agreed! The current 1.5L is so underpowered!!! Both grandparents have them and yes, they are adequate, but struggle go up very large hills and with any windy days here in the Midwest.
This sounds absurd, the current Equinox with the 1.5L is not fast, but is is not underpowered and certainly would not struggle on hills, especially in the Midwest where there really aren’t any hills. I have made it all the way from Golden CO, to the top of Floyd hill in I70 in sixth gear lockup in an 1.5L Nox. The torque curve on the 1.5L is excellent and makes it feel far faster than it is and also makes it very good at climbing hills without downshifting if you are even a moderately smooth driver.
@ Bruce
Then why do all the automobile magazines and reviewers say the engine is too underpowered and the ancient 6 speed transmission needs to go. We have 2 in the family. They are doggy as h@ll, don’t pick up speed when passing, and if there is a head wind out, these things are terrible!!!!
The 3.6L when it was available was a great engine. Got decent fuel economy as well.
Because it could use more power but it plenty adequate. It is right on par with base engines of the competition. I will take a 1.5t versus an NA four in the rav4 or others any day. I don’t rev out those vehicles, I would love a boost of low end torque. The Rav4 down shifts at the slightest grade over 0.5%. The Equinox we had as a rental was much better for cruising and running around town. Yes it was slower when being revved out, but that is such a low amount of time, the other 95% was a much better experience.
A 2.0 would be welcome, but the current is far from a dog. It still does 0-60 in the mid 8 second range which is plenty.
I drove my wife’s 2019 Equinox Premier (1.5T) through the Smoky Mountains fully loaded with coolers and luggage 70-80 mph and it never struggled. It even got 29 mpg to boot! It’s a great vehicle! We bought it new and I would buy it again tomorrow.
Zero chance it has anything based on the 2.5L, way too heavy and inefficient for a compact SUV. The 2025 Equinox engine will be something similar to what it has now or possibly something like the current 2.0L.
Agreed. I will not consider any car with less than 2.0L displacement or less than 4 cyl. I could give or take a turbo~
Then buy the first generation Equinox with the 3.4 L V6 or the Sport version with the better 3.6 L V6. Chevy should have left the V6 as an optional engine.
It would be nice to have a choice, but I have a 2019 Equinox in Michigan and have had no problems at all anywhere I have driven. Not like a V8, but I’m more than satisfied with the engine and the mpg.
This is good news.
The current Nox is just too small for the Segment.
I want to trade my 2022 NOX on a 2025. Should I order now so that I can get it by 2026?
I have a 22, Equnoix, the new version looks a lot like the GMC Terrain to me…just my opinion..
I noticed that, too, and as a Terrain owner, it’s a great feature. Can’t wait to see the Terrain version.
We have a GEN 1 Terrain. Very happy with it. We may upgrade to the newer Traverse/Acadia, but this may keep us in a smaller, more practical (for us) unit.
I have kept my 2016 Terrain due to the appearance and smaller size of the current models. I have hope for these!
Hopefully they’ve increased the size a bit so it is no longer a tweener. I like the more masculine styling too.
” a new, small displacement engine …”
If they go with the stupid 1.2/1.3 3-cyl, there’s no hope left for GM .
I drive a 2021 Equinox!!
I have a 2018 Camaro and use Equinox for my daily driver ..
I am excited about the new 2025 Model ..
Looks sporty and tuff !!
joe cooper chev shawnee ok equuinox $24.137 mrk up $2000 to 26137 ????????????? $4100 off on up$2000
I hope wider vehicule = wider front seats !
The front seats are just too uncomfortable for me in the current model. Narrow and hard.
My wife has a 2018 Nox that has been good. Interested in seeing what is changing in interior given the gains in width and height
Hopefully they go with a better engine, 1.5 is terrible
My hubby would like the back of the 2025 Equinox to be able to hold 4 x 8 sheet of plywood with seat down. he also wants the larger turbocharge 4 cylinder engine. I am tired of bland boring colors I want a flashy different orange! Can GM do this?
Amazing that Nox and CR-V are in same category. I could see Equinox being very popular, typing for 2ed place.
I’d still the lower height of Envision or CX-30 but most people like big
