Most Buick Envista Buyers Are Young, New To Brand

Debuting back in April 2023, the Buick Envista was developed with the goal of generating interest from a younger audience. With Buick’s entry-level crossover coupe having been on the market for a few months, it appears to be doing exactly that.

According to information released by General Motors, a whopping 69 percent of Envista buyers are new to the Buick brand. At the same time, the crossover also boasts the highest percentage of owners aged 18 to 35 across all of GM’s nameplates, indicating that the Envista has great appeal among younger buyers.

Representing the first model year of the entry level crossover, the current 2024 Envista features a design language inspired by the Buick Wildcat EV concept car. The Envista also features a “crossover coupe” profile, which is unique in the mainstream space.

Inside, the Envista features an 11-inch diagonal infotainment screen, along with a flat-bottom steering wheel that’s equipped as standard across the entire lineup. Despite being a small crossover, the Envista also has plenty of legroom, along with a healthy amount of cargo room (20.7 cubic feet behind the rear seat and 42 cubic feet with the rear seats folded down).

Three distinct trim levels are available, including Preferred (base), Sport Touring (ST), and range-topping Avenir as part of the new Buick Y-trim level strategy. The Buick Driver Confidence Package is featured as standard across all trims, and includes Automatic Emergency Braking, Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure WarningIntelliBeam automatic high beams, and more. Further safety and driver assist technologies are also available.

In regard to output, the 2024 Envista is powered by the turbocharged 1.2L I3 LIH gasoline engine, rated at 137 horsepower and 162 pound-feet of torque. The boosted three-pot is mated to GM’s six-speed automatic transmission driving exclusively the front wheels. Notably, every trim in the 2024 Buick Envista lineup features this drivetrain combination.

Under the skin, the Envista rides on the GM VSS-F vehicle set, while production takes place at the GM Bupeyong plant in South Korea. Looking ahead, production of the 2025 model is set to kick off in May 2024.

  1. If GM launched this car in South Korea, it will helpful to GM Korea’s profit. GM Korea should introduce Buick in korea. If possible, they can introduce another korean made Buick, the encore gx too.

  2. I’ll just bet this is a big hit in fashionista-bent South Korea. It sold 1/6 of what the Trax sold in the US in 2023, but still darn respectable. Only problem is that I haven’t seen a single one. Port of Entry in Cali must eat them all up. I saw tons of Encore GXs and Trailblazers right after intro, so I don’t know what’s going on with this and the Trax (that I also haven’t seen one of), but it ain’t good. Can’t GM ship some of them to, say, Miami?

    1. My daughter and son-in-law bought my granddaughter one for Christmas. They had to put a deposit down on the one they wanted while in transit. They are all sold before they hit the lot.

    2. They can’t keep up with demand- these things are selling before they even reach dealers. It will be interesting to see sales numbers once there is a healthy supply on lots.

  3. It looks nice for a crossover but I’m tired of crossovers.

  4. When I bought my Colorado ZR2 2 weeks ago the dealer sales people were saying they sell ever Trax they get. They would take a truck load a week if they could be cause they sell so well. Seems the Envista is doing the same and the only issue with the Buick is they are building as many as them as they are the Trax. GM made a good call on these entry level cars. Now they just need to see if they can increase production.

  5. People need to shed the “Buick is a grandpa car” image out of their heads. I remember Alex Dykes saying he can’t see himself driving an Envista because of his age. These days, grandpas and grandmas are driving Toyota Corollas, Camrys, or a Lexus ES if they retired well. I’ve been associating these cars with our grandparents instead.

  6. I’m 74 and Been Driving My Envista Avenir For About 3 Months Now and I’m Enjoying Everything About This Car! Has The Speed To Get On The Highway Is Quite an Roomy. If You Can Get One To Test Drive, Do It!

  7. What brands are the new young buyers trading up to Buick? Chevy? Kia? Lincoln? Honda? Or some other lessor brand? Buick could be considered “LaSalle” being you get luxury, sporty looks at a lower cost ratio than the full luxury performance Cadillac.

    1. That’s precisely Buick’s market right now. Premium luxury that’s more affordable compared to Cadillac to compete with Acura/Volvo/Infinti/Audi

  8. These younger Envista and Trax buyers amazingly accept a new car with “glitches” as all new cars have things wrong with them. They also can’t read a car user’s manual and figure things out for themselves. They depend on the other young people who think they know it all. LOL

    1. I will tell you so far my XT5 has less glitches than my 2016 Rav4. And we’re talking Toyota here. The supposed champion of reliability.

  9. GM marketing is working then. Every ad I have seen for this vehicle has been from a “Buick Ambassador” that is in their mid-late 20’s with a professional career.

  10. Younger drivers are attracted to these, because of the price. Other possible buyers look at these, but the tiny engine is a drawback. I personally love the looks of the Envista, if it had a 4 with 200hp, I’d buy one. My next purchase will be a Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV.

  11. Buick back to sedans with this model. Seeing them all over, the first newer Buicks I’ve seen for many years on the roads!

  12. This would look sweeeet as a convertible! Can we see one at the auto shows?

  13. Just picked one up in December. I am 70 and I love it. I also loved the encore until the prices went up. It was my go to for 10 years.

  14. Test drove it and love the exterior styling. But they need to add more masculine colors like harvest bronze metallic.

What do you all think about the rear brake lights and turn signals being placed toward the bottom of the vehicle rather than being integrated with the LED tail lights?

    Reply
    1. Love the tail lights and like the turn signal in the rear bumper (GM 1960’s to 1970) and it is red instead of ambler (really dislike ambler turn signal tail lights) Europe/Japan in the 70′ and 80’s (they mostly have gone back to red thank goodness. Still not likely it is not built in North America, leaving U.S. & Canadian workers out.
